Great location for the West Highland way. I had heard bad things about this place but I couldn't fault it at all. I arrived an hour too early for check in and got directed to a lovely comfortable lounge to wait. I had a single room which was spotlessly clean as was the toilet & shower. The 3 course evening meal was absolutely divine as well as the breakfast. Very polite attentive staff just added to the experience
We didn't stay there overnight but I can tell these rooms are very comfortable to stay. Their lounge room is amazing and has that homely feel. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. They have a massive kitchen for self-catering and everything you need for cooking. Walkability: There is a beautiful walking path nearby.
One star for the view, the other star for vegan cheese at breakfast. This is hostel, therefore I am not expecting 4 star hotel, however, they should be charging as per hostel. It is extremely overpriced. We paid for continental breakfast at booking, I am not sure if this necessary. Nobody seems to be checking what services are included in your rate. No mention that private room had towels. No bin in the room. Person that checked us in was very rude and unhelpful to our friend who asked for some directions. This is a youth hostel located in national park but there are no maps available at the reception !. Good for one night if you are desperate but there is plenty of nicer, appropriately priced accommodations in the area. If we paid half of the rate with breakfast included then my rating would probably change to 4 rude staff, but for 186£ for 2 nights in private room with shared bathroom? I dont think I will be staying again.
We stayed here when walking the west highland way From the start the staff were lovely and friendly and got us booked in for a lovely dinner very quickly upon arrival. We stayed in the 8 person dorm which was very clean as were the showers/toilets. The best part about our stay were the helpful and friendly staff who were always available to help. Thank you for a lovely stay! :
Super dog friendly camping and super comfy bar louge with a beautiful loch view. I was worried about leaving my dog alone while I showered but one of the staff looked after him. Really put me at ease. These guys have really bought in to the YHA mission. The self catering facilities are also fantastic. Highly recommend.
Only had breakfast but oh boy it was so delicious after some 10k walk early in the morning. By the time I arrived they were technically done with breakfast but were kind enough to let me in. Brilliant Loch views too.
Beautiful hostel in a lovely setting. Was a shame the bunks didn't all have a power outlet and bedlight like other hostels have. Lounge area and kitchen are nice and nice to see bathrooms and showers up to date mostly.
Excellent and helpful staff, good location and stunning view on the lake. The whole facility is a little bit older but has a certain class, especially the living gives a very nice vibe
We couldn’t stay here as it was closed for refurbishment but stopped by to find out about ferries and were warmly greeted by an incredibly helpful staff member who gave us lots of very useful advice about local walks, transport and food options. It’s a beautiful spot just by the path up to Ben Lomond and the hostel looks great. Walkability: It’s on the West Highland Way
The best barista and balloon maker in town. Beautiful views. We stopped by and were glad we did. Amazing hostel and location.
