A great little cosy pub to spend a sunny Sunday watching time fly by. Has a lovely decor and charm about the place, nice to see the horses go by on the road, a good beer garden also, and some really nice real ale & beer on tap and a perfect pint of Guinness ! Very friendly staff shall definitely be coming back again indeed
What a lovely pub. So quaint food is delicious. Owners are very friendly. There's a pool table too! Parking is great. They have lots of outdoor seating too, obviously not for this time of year but will be great in the summer. Only thing I would say is they don't have a massive selection of bottled wines, the standard size I mean. Apart from that, very nice indeed
A very nice pub with value for money menu food was excellent
Lovely pub with a friendly landlord and a tasty drink. Perfect!
Over an hour and a half to get our food. The barman wasn’t at all friendly or apologetic, won’t be coming back.
Finishing our walk around the nearby nature reserve, the pub was a welcome sight! It is beautifully set on the main street leading up to the top of Little Baddow, and proudly features a lovely beer garden on a slope to its Western side. There is a good selection of drinks, warm food and sandwiches. The place has quite a history built around 1650 and the owners have made sure the interior is richly decorated with lots of items around a nautical theme. The collection of beer mats adorning the ceiling around the bar to the right of the entrance is worth admiring. Note: the pub serves food but you may have to wait to be served so don't be in a hurry! Enjoy the atmosphere and a good conversation. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, a great testimony of local hospitality.
A great pub. We've been going here for quite a few years. Lovely old pub interior with wooden floors and beams and immaculate beer garden with plenty of seating. The landlord always has a couple of real ales and ciders on tap which change regularly plus a good selection of gins and vodka shots. Highly recommended for a nice relaxing drink in a nice setting.
Lovely old style pub. Felt very homely and a good range of beers. Haven’t tried the food yet but certainly will
Great original pub, totally unspoilt, good old floorboards and decor. Serving some very good food, cooked properly and very tasty..
Had a lovely pint of Ruby Mild in perfect condition and very good ham, egg and homemade chips for lunch at a real "lighter meal" price. Wish this was my local. Landlord was friendly as well.
