This is an amazing place, very clean and tidy. The grounds are exceptional. It’s very well situated for visiting other places. Kate and Gary are wonderful hosts and very welcoming. They are there when you need them but not intrusive. We would definitely stay again if we were going to the area. Very relaxing place! Food & drinks: Plenty of places in the area for food and drink with the local friendly pub less than a mile away
I could not recommend this accomdation more! The cottage was lovely, so clean and tidy, and everything you could need was provided. The added touch of the gift bag, with a Cornish cream tea, and fresh milk in the fridge was a wonderful touch. The location was perfect, so quiet and peaceful but not too far from the local harbours/towns. The river was lovely to visit, and the children loved the rope swings. We even saw a Red Deer! Kate and Gary were exceptional hosts, and nothing was too much trouble! We will definitely be returning!
Our 5th visit to Rivermead and it never disappoints. This time we stayed in the Old Farmhouse. It was full of character and very spacious, spotlessly clean and everything you need for a self catering stay. The grounds of Rivermead are beautiful and peaceful with lots of wildlife for nature lovers. To top off a lovely stay are the hosts Gary and Kate who are so welcoming and there if you need them with lots of advice about the area. I cannot recommend more highly- our return visits speak for themselves.
This was our fifth visit to Rivermead Cottages, we stayed in Owl which is beautifully furnished and equipped, has lovely gardens and views around the cottage as well as access to a lovely riverside walk within the grounds. You could not ask for more. The owners Kate and Gary are wonderful hosts.
Lovely grounds. Peaceful. Lodge very comfortable. Good base, short drives to lots of lovely places. Even north shores of Cornwall only an hour away. Would recommend especially if you like to be away from hustle and bustle.Rooms: 5/5
What a fabulous place to stay. As soon as you arrive you're welcomed by Kate and Gary and the magical landscape, not forgetting the fabulous welcome pack of essentials and a few little luxuries too. It's perfectly positioned to visit the coast or many of the wonderful tourist attractions such as Tintagel. The grounds are superb and are perfect for families with 17 acres to explore, beautifully maintained. We stayed in Bluebell cottage and it was well equipped and tastefully decorated. The electric heaters were easy to use and quick to heat the rooms which made the cottage lovely and cosy. We made use of the local pub "The Halfway House" which was close by and Kate made us a booking on our first night as we were too tired to cook. We weren't disappointed, excellent food and service. We would thoroughly recommend Rivermead cottages and can't wait to visit again. Thanks Kate and Gary, you have the most amazing piece of Cornwall and thank you for making us feel so welcome.
Stayed in Otter Lodge 3 bedroom log cabin type lodge. This formed part of 7 holiday homes on the 17 acre site. Fabulous location overlooking a valley with the river Fowey running through. Very well maintained rural site, with manicured lawns. Otter lodge was modern, clean and had all the comforts of home. A fabulous place away from it all. Well done to Kate and Gary the owners for all their hard work. Thank you The Howes family. Noteworthy details: River mead, is a short distance from Bodmin and Liskeard. It is found off the main road on a winding, hilly minor road. Your own motor transport is essential.
We had a lovely week at Oaktree Cottage, cosy but an ideal size for the two of us. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The welcome pack was a lovely addition. The grounds were gorgeous and beautifully maintained, and the evening walks along the river and around the lake rounded the day off perfectly. So many attractions and places to visit, being centrally based were within an hour or less travelling time. Really, the week we’d booked wasn’t long enough! Both Kate and Gary were extremely welcoming and I would have no hesitation recommending Rivermead Cottages to anyone wanting a relaxing break in a stunning location.
In a sentence, this place is a little slice of paradise. We stayed in one of the lovely old converted cottages, everything is sparkling clean, and there is everything you could need to live in perfect comfort for the duration of your stay, the freebies where very welcome and the grounds themselves where genuinely beautiful, you really are in the middle of dense nature at rivermead a kingfisher damn near took my nose off flying down the river as I was fishing! with plenty of wildlife just out side your front door for those who want to see it. The accommodations are bang smack at the bottom of a huge valley with the river Fowey running through it, literally a stones through from your cottage. Me and my partner said "damn now that is beautiful" so many times we had to come up with new words to describe how darn pretty everything is! Seriously though the owners really care about this place, and the guests who stay there. Close by are so many amazing places to visit a week was definitely not enough for us! You have the eden project, the lost gardens of heligen and the minack theatre just to name a few, and we really recommend perranporth beach. There is a lot of wonderful restaurants and pubs, so you won't be short of something to do in the evenings. If it's fishing your after the fly fishing is great sport on the Fowey, it was a bit out of season late august when I tried my hand at it but i still battled with a couple of relatively large resident fish hidden underneath the overhanging trees on the opposing bank, casting large nymphs as close as I could get to the bank seemed to get the action. All in all, great memories made, whether your a couple or a family this is a perfect getaway.
Absolutely wonderful property in a beautiful location. Very high standard and beautifully furnished with everything you need for a fabulous holiday. Kate and Gary were extremely welcoming and helpful and the wonderful welcome pack was an added bonus. Rooms: Otter Lodge was beautifully furnished to a very high standard, lovely and clean, home from home. Peaceful and quiet with a private garden.
