The most fabulous stay in a Meadow Retreat lodge! Couldn’t fault anything, so warm and welcoming in a beautiful setting! Ultimate peace and quiet for a relaxed getaway. We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough - we will definitely be returning!! Rooms: Very comfortable beds with lovely bed linen provided! Nearby activities: Within driving distance to a lot of local attractions ranging from the beach to Bodmin jail and its history Food & drinks: Plenty of local eateries all detailed within the very helpful welcome pack!
We absolutely loved our holiday at Southern Holt. From the moment we booked the holiday we felt we were in good hands, with great communication throughout from the team. The location was beautiful and very peaceful. The lodge was spacious and very well equipped. The hot tub was a definite winner with the entire family. Lots of things to do in the surrounding area, but also a great location for simply relaxing. We would highly recommend Southern Holt for a family holiday in Cornwall.
This is our 3rd stay with Southern Halt at Meadow Retreat and this year was as good as previously. The lodge is luxury and so warm and spacious. The setting is perfect, absolute peace and quiet with moorhens and rabbits running around. If you want somewhere with entertainment or a shop on site this is not the place for you. If you want a fabulous countryside setting with wildlife and relaxation then this is the right place. Everything we needed was provided and the welcome pack a nice touch. The site is kept immaculate and even though houses are not far away it feels as though you are in the middle of a country retreat. Dobwalls is perfectly located for visiting so many places all within an easy drive. We have already booked our return for next year.
We have just returned from a lovely week away at Southern Halt, staying at 3 Southern Place. The site itself is wonderful and looks really well maintained, and each lodge has it's own secluded spot. On arrival the lodge was very clean, looked well equipped and modern. The bed and sofa were really comfortable and we loved the hot tub, which we were pleased to see was checked daily. The check in / check out process was super easy and the welcome pack was really helpful and a nice touch. While staying at 3 Southern Place, we noticed a few things in the lodge which we didn't feel were up to the standard that we'd expect for how much we paid for our stay. A lot of the blinds in the lodge are bent, and one of the lounge blinds can't be pulled down at all, so we were unable to shut this. The tiled flooring in the kitchen and especially the bathroom is very knocked. The coffee table needs replacing, the leather seat on the dressing table stool is flaking off and the walls particularly around the bedroom and splashback in kitchen look like they need re-painting. While none of the above was a major issue, we felt the lodge was looking a bit tired and considering how much we spent on the week, we were a little bit disappointed with the standard of the lodge. We also saw that similar reviews had been written over a year ago, so it's a shame that the same defects are still there now. We still had a great week and would definitely return to the site if in the area again, but wouldn't stay at the same lodge.
Stayed for the week in 15 faraway fields cabin and loved every minute. The Lodge was stunning and the location not only peaceful and tranquil but also easy to get to most places in under an hour. We loved the hot tub and the dog certainly felt very chilled and at ease here. It was private and clean and felt home from home. Would highly recommend and will certainly be back.
My husband and I have just visited this site and stayed in 5 Faraway Fields, absolutely beautiful setting and the lodge was very clean and welcoming. Everything you needed to make your stay relaxing. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna and the cinema room was excellent on a rainy afternoon. The site is kept excellent and the wildlife was amazing visiting the garden each evening, we even had a visit from a beautiful fox one evening. Tracy on reception was lovely keeping us informed about the lodge being available earlier than expected and making sure our stay was enjoyable. We would recommend staying here to everyone as it’s a fantastic base for exploring the area and not too far to travel to some of Cornwall’s beautiful attractions. We hope to return soon xx
It was our first time staying in a Lodge. We were very impressed with the lodge itself and the exceptional cleanliness all round. Although we did bring our own towels they weren’t needed as they were supplied and ready upon arrival. Once settled we checked out the hot tub but didn’t use it until the following day. We had a fantastic 3 night stay and will definitely be recommending the site and location to family and friends. We will be staying again next year. Rooms: The kitchen and living room were set to an open plan with plenty of space in the main bedroom. Nearby activities: Liskard was only a 5 minute drive where you have ample shops and other amenities. Safety: Once inside your lodge the whole lodge is enclosed with fenced decking making it safe for toddlers and dogs alike.
It was our first time staying at Southern Holt with the dog. This place is amazing we stayed overlooking the pond. The views were spectacular and the hot tub was a godsend. We looked at many places in Cornwall to stay in but this was by far the best we would definitely recommend, to friends And family and to anyone whoever asks, we will definitely be back now we found the gem
We had a lovely stay in 18 Meadows Retreat. The games and cinema room were perfect for a rainy morning. The lodge was very clean and cozy, comfortable beds, warm and welcoming. The site is very quiet. There isn't a playground, but plenty of grass for children to kick a ball around. The restaurant is 15 minutes drive away nice food and lovely staff. Good location for sightseeing ideas in the guest book too. Communication was great and Tracey was very helpful and friendly. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Our family had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the lodge. Everything was well thought of by the management and owners, we even had a welcome cards and treats which made our arrival felt even more welcomed. The hot tub was a very special treat for the kids too. We have a son who has autism and it’s quite rare that he gets comfortable on the first couple of days but he did with our stay. Moreover , it’s quiet and has a relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely go back. Rooms: Rooms were clean and comfortable. The front room /dining room view was amazing overlooking the far away fields. Food & drinks: Close to many pubs and restaurants and the sister restaurant is a must try. The management has also provided information about takeaways and local shops nearby which is great
