Private dining experience at the River Beat. Location is spectacular. Outdoor terrace with absolutely amazing views. Mojito gets a solid 7.5/10 let down by ice cubes instead of crushed ice. Food is Asian fusion really well presented with attention to detail. With the private dining experience they brought multiple dishes all amazing. Bold flavours, chilli never over powering. The stand out dish was the crispy belly pork. The staff are amazing, so friendly, polite and couldn't do enough. Lovely little gem on the Gateshead side highly recommended
- the grazing menu is a good way to sample dishes before committing to the full prices if you get in early enough. There was nothing we tried that we wanted a full portion of. - food was underwhelming. the menu choices seem amazing but the portions are small and the execution isn't top notch. The ribs were tough and dry. The squid was stuck together and the prawn crackers were hard. - service was OK but a bit unprofessional. Multiple waiters served the same tables repeating questions, yet it was a bit inattentive and the table didn't get cleaned enough/cutlery not changed. - impressive views and decor - casual atmosphere - the cocktails are quite nice
Absolute hidden gem. Food is amazing and espresso martinis top notch. Gorgeous decor and friendly knowledgeable staff. Will recommend to anyone who will listen. New fave place.
Last month I was invited to try the food River Beat and it did not disappoint. The venue is situated on Gateshead’s quayside within a stone’s throw from the Swing Bridge allowing amazing riverside views of Newcastle’s iconic bridges from their beautiful terrace. River Beat specialises in award winning Asian tapas and curries in a quirky setting with relaxed fun vibes. I was lucky enough to try all the below dishes to get a great feel for variety of what they have to offer. The dishes were immense and with so many fresh flavours in each. I still honestly cannot decide which was my favourite! Thai Salmon fish cakes with sweet red chilli jam Tempura soft shelled crab with seaweed & singer salad Char Sui Pork with green nasi goreng Malay lamb vindaloo with a dry coconut chutney & Thai Jasmine rice Pork & Prawn steamed dumplins with schezuan dip Asian spiced lamb with Chinese pancakes River beat offers an extremely enjoyable experience. They have clearly put a lot of effort into perfecting their selection of dishes and creating a great a welcoming environment to ensure you cannot wait for your next visit…my recommendation is to bring as many people with you when you do so you get to try as many dishes as possible !!
Incredible food, lovely atmosphere and a warm and friendly owner. First time here but I can't wait to go back.
Lovely experience! The service was great , the place is cosy and has a lovely view. The food was great too, the pork belly was blissful and the desert was ok.
Just an unexpectedly wonderful gem on the banks of the Tyne! Inventive gourmet food, very helpful service, delicious cocktails. In the warm season, terrace is a wonderful choice - opens up a romantic view of the river and bridges.
Friendly staff, funky decor and great views over the river, ordered a pad thaï - could have had less sugar and more heat and tamarind, but tasty nonetheless and a generous serve too. Delicious red wine too.
A cool modern restaurant overlooking the Tyne serving Asian tapas and other Asian dishes. The staff are friendly, service is good and restaurant has a nice, lively atmosphere. Prices are a bit more on the expensive side but the food is absolutely worth it. All presented excellently and taste great. It was my second visit and I'll definitely be returning. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.
Absolutely brilliant. Great dining experience. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food all tasted amazing, the scallops and pork belly were particular favourites. We will definitely be back.
