This is a fairly basic site however it has stunning views and is peaceful and quiet. It can be tricky to find so I would advise to review your route near the site especially if you have a touring caravan. It is very close to Holmfirth with some nice pubs and a great bakery on Bridge Street. On the site it would be good if some information about the local area could be made available. A mop could be left in the shower area for people to clean after use. The mats used in the shower need to be removed and replaced with an anti slip mat that can be easily cleaned. The chemical waste needs to be cleaned daily. We had a lovely stay and there are just some small details that would make a big differance.
It really lives up to its name being called the rising Sun. One photo is also the sunset. Lovely walks down into Holmfirth. You have a shower here, two toilets & washing up facilities. The owner's of the site is friendly.
Thank you for a lovely nights stay - perfect for what we wanted - peaceful, clean and laid back vibe. Wonderful views and loved the farming implements dotted around. Thanks Kelly for being so warm and welcoming. Gemma, Ben and The Voice Box Mobile Live Music Stage/camper! @thevoiceboxmusic
Liked it mainly for the location..only 2 toilets for everyone and no hot water at the sinks ,don't understand why. 1 shower for everyone as well, obviously would be a wait if site is busy.. A good 30 minute walk into Holmfirth, down hill,so alot longer on the way back up! Follow directions on website, NOT satnav, you'll see why when you get there. Would stay again, but only for a couple of nights due to the facilities, shame really.
Spent the night here to see a concert in Holmfirth, lovely little site with spaces for non electric as well as electric hooks up. Only one loo and shower, but I guess the majority of people have them in vans and RVs. Saying that, they are clean. Kelly is very friendly and helpful. It's probably about 20- 30 mins walk down the track by the site to the village of Holmfirth.....got a taxi back after the concert, about £7, so was with it as I didn't fancy trekking back up later on. Cracking views too.
This is our first outing since getting a caravan - I'm worrying that everywhere's going to be a let-down after this.... Amazing views, great location, good facilities, friendly ducks.
Views are amazing here, one of the best that me and my partner have been to. We only stayed one night, but will definitely return. If I had to pick any negatives, the sat navigation that we followed took us up the worst road ever, but it's highlights this on the website. We just didn't pick up on it
Lovely little site with fantastic views, we will be back
We were only there for a windy weekend and it was everything we needed it to be with breathtaking views. Small but perfectly sized campsite for about 10/12 vans, located on a farm. Safe area for my daughter to make new bestest friends. Dogs allowed on the lead and was lovely to have a campfire raised on the floor with cover gazing at the immense views. The only noise to consider is the farm animals, but that's a large part of the appeal. Can't wait to go back and secure an uninterrupted views pitch and making this a full five shiney star review, but it's always fully booked - so if you're planning to go, you need to book early. However if you ever cancel your booking, let me know so I can benefit from an unexpected weekend away just 10 minutes from home.
Great site, stunning views! A lovely little site, only about 25 mins walk down into Holmfirth for all the village has to offer. You can even get a taxi back up the hill, will cost about £4 - £5. The facilities are basic but clean and well maintained. The pitches are a generous size and all level. The views over the Holmfirth valley are amazing. One word of caution for tent campers, it can get very windy so perhaps worth visiting when there is little wind forecast. Will definitely stay here again!
