Not been here for about 15 years! But well worth the wait on a lovely hot sunny lunchtime. Sat outside and had the Rag Pudding for lunch, but there was lots on the menu I fancied having. I'll definitely not wait another 15 years before coming back!
Great pub, love the decor and relaxed atmosphere.Food was absolutley stunning, really impressed. The majority of the staff were really good, there was a couple that need some more training, but on the whole it was lovely.
First time coming here and wasn't disappointed! Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff, lovely food and not to mention extremely clean! The bathroom was probably the cleanest I've ever seen in a pub too! Definitely recommend if you're in the area
Impromtu dinner today, we booked our Thursday late afternoon table online with ease to guarantee a spot. 2 starters 2 mains both were really very good! The lightest of battered Halloumi fries and beautifully seasoned Firecracker Scampi. As we all know as well always a great sign when you get a nice fresh side salad.. Mains were a huge Chicken Carbonara and a Devil burger. Staff were really good checking in to make sure everything was OK and really friendly. Really glad we chose here this afternoon and all because it beat another local by 0.1 on their reviews.. See it really does work! Hopefully this guides a few more your way as it was really well received.
We had a family event here recently for 16 people. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was beautifully made and presented. Hand made curries, home style chips and steaks to die for. Desserts amazing, try the Eton mess, it's something else. Either homemade or locally produced jam is used, either way it was fantastic. Highly recommended.
Everything was amazing. The food was lovely. The service was excellent. The restaurant was clean and inviting. I have to say that Adam was lovely. He is a credit to the pub. For such a young lad to chat to us all and we're different ages was refreshing. It was great chatting to him. It was such a special evening. If we lived locally we live in Plymouth we would certainly frequent the pub more often.
Just had a beautiful Boxing Day meal. We were taken promptly to our table, and all the staff were delightful and attentive! The 3 course Christmas meal was gorgeous- from starter to dessert. The price was very reasonable. Thankyou Rising Moon- keep up the good work
We went to Rising Moon yesterday 6th Feb after a funeral. 4 of us initially with another to join soon after. On arrive the car park was very full and we worried that there wouldn't be any space for us you can reserve a table in advance but we didn't think we would need to on a Monday lunch time. At first we were told we would have to wait an hour for a table but soon after a table was found that fit four of us and another table next to us was just having their desserts so we were told when they have left we could move their table to join ours. I only noticed three staff members on the floor but they coped well with a full pub, including a Wake that was going on in their back room. We ordered our drinks - including cocktails some I've never hear off before and then a little while later our food. Food arrived quickly, and there was five clean plates by the end. The amount of food was more than expected, so much so that we had looked at the desserts menu before hand but none of us could manage one as we were all stuffed. Between us we had Beef Stroganoff, Braised Beef x 2, Pork Loin in Pepper Sauce and a hot beef sandwich. Everyone said the food was delicious. I'm very impressed with the place. It looked nice, was clean, had a welcoming atmosphere, food was yummy, toilets very clean and outside spotless and inviting. They allow dogs in too as we met a gorgeous dog who loved a stroke called Alfie. The view was also amazing of the surrounding hills, though the pub itself is on a very fast road so be careful when leaving the car park. Not sure if we will be up that way again as we travelled some distance to attend the funeral but if we are we all agreed we would be calling here for lunch. Just on a side note, we were informed that when we were given the table we had it for just two hours, which was enough for us, but just to warn anyone who might be thinking about spending a good few hours there.
We had a midweek lunch here and it was very nice. Hot & fresh food, a good variety on the menu. My only slight gripe was the staff seemed a little 'stressed' - it may have been because it was quite busy for a lunchtime. Will definitely call in again.
What a lovely place to come and relax and enjoy some quality home cooked food , we came for a family meal out with my elderly mother and was not disappointed in the slightest the food was excellent very fresh and very filling. The staff were very attentive and looked after us and enjoyed a warm friendly chat. We will definitely be returning here. A big thank you to all the staff and the chef, brilliant.
