We have one child at the school in Y8 and one joining Y7 in September. Our daughter loves it and there is so much to get involved with beyond just academic work. The new head has really made a terrific impact since he arrived a couple of years ago and inspires enormous confidence that he will take this school 'outstanding' in the next few years.
My son goes to this school and he's very happy. The headmaster Mr Mundy-Castle is a very positive and inspiring man. The progression this school is going through is quite brilliant. I have no doubt that RPA will go from Good to Outstanding in the next Ofsted report and it doesn't surprise me more and more East Sheen and Barnes families are now sending their kids here. Sixth Form students are now leaving here to go to Oxford. I felt compelled to leave a review because all the One Star reviews I'm reading on here don't seem to ring true with what we're seeing.
We have one daughter at the school and another starting in September. We are delighted with the education our eldest is receiving at the school and the progress she has made since leaving Barnes Primary. Mr Mundy Castle is an inspiring principal with great ambitions for the academy, and staff and students appear to share his grand plans with him.
I have one child who has been at the school for a few years and another about to join in September. These one star reviews do not remotely represent the school and look very much like an orchestrated campaign.nnMr Castle has built on the work of the previous head to turn the school around and if you want some evidence then just look at the uplift in exam results and the very recent Ofsted report for yourselves. Behaviour was highlighted as good and RPA is one of the most improved schools in the previous academic year. This forward momentum is continuing in this year.nnMr Castle has seriously addressed discipline and focus and made a lot of changes to teaching staff, and perhaps this does not sit well with some, but my son considers the school to be friendly and supportive, with engaging teaching and a whole host of enrichment opportunities. I have watched him thrive academically and discover new talents and have no concerns sending my youngest child there this year.
DO NOT TRUST THE 5 STARS, as they’ve been written by parents and not students!nMy experience after have gone to this school is that it’s ridiculous! There are a lot of bullies in that school, which teachers doesn’t really seem to be bothered with.. Nasty comments made in class but most teachers does not even care to tell them off.. It’s been disgusting going to this school because it’s messy and almost all toilets are dirty with nasty smells, which questions if they even have cleaners.. The food sometimes doesn’t even last for everyone eating and the long queues has caused lots of problems.nI’ve also heard rumours of this school banning mobile phones after I left, from my friends, which turns out to be true.. The apparently claimed that using cellphones during break time causes lots of cyber bullying and that they’d take your cellphone for a week if they see it, which first sounds ridiculous because children can cyber bully when they get home, showing that what they teach is stupid and not well thought of and secondly, why would you let a teacher keep your child’s phone, which you paid hundreds, keep them for a week..nnSome teachers are alright and good, but it still does not make up for all the bad stuff going on there.. I wish no child to experience that school unless it’s fixed! The ‘Good’ review from Ofsted they’ve received is from all the consequences for students made if they misbehave by the teachers and head of year.. They deserve a minimum.nAfter seeing a poster saying “60% has received a 5” is shocking as that’s the minimum expected to pass a GCSE and that only a bit more than half of all the year 11 doing their gcse has passed..
