Restaurant DH1 is a small, fine dining restaurant based in Durham city. Head chef Stephen Hardy and his wife Helen will be opening the restaurant doors on March 3rd 2014 hoping to offer Durham's residents and visitors a unique dining experience.

I managed to book in for my wedding anniversary after making a couple of phone calls, having originally been told it was fully booked. I'm glad I persisted because the food here was fantastic. We went for the 9 course tasting menu (but didn't opt for the matching wines) and the food was simply exquisite and beautifully presented. The ambience is quiet and classy and the service was top notch. This is a great place for a romantic meal for two and I couldn't fault any element of the experience. I'd highly recommend it.

Everything was amazing, the food was carefully prepared and crafted from local ingredients and the ambience gave the meal a sense of tranquility not often felt. One of the better restaurants within Durham.

Ate here to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had our thirteen year old son along with us. We had the nine course menu though we counted twelve if you included the bread round, amuse bouche, and birthday chocolates at the end. We went with the tasting wine selection and were not disappointed. Some real surprises and new tastes and ideas that surprised. Last time we had a more exciting meal was in Japan. The only thing missing on this occasion to top it was our youngest son not being with us, but at Scout camp. Service was excellent with good explanation if the courses and accompanying wines. Great location. Thanks for a super night.

We were so impressed with this restaurant! Six of us dined earlier this month, to celebrate a special occasion. We had the tasting menu - 9 courses - and a few bottles of very good wine from the list. We found each course delicious and a work of art - the attention to detail was impressive! The service was attentive and polished. It was a remarkable night and we will look forward to going back next time we're in Durham.
