RAMH enables people to recover from mental ill health, and to build independent, fulfilled lives.
RAMH does this in 6 ways:
• by providing immediate support in crisis situations
• by supporting people in their own homes with individualised care and practical support
• by providing day services including social and educational groups, drop-in facilities, and supporting recovery and continued well-being
• by providing counselling to young people within their schools, and to adults in the community
• by supporting carers, family and friends through education and information
• by raising awareness to overcome misconceptions around mental health
Our vision is to deliver services to individuals and their families in their local community, to promote a process of recovery and well-being.
RAMH encourages individuals to enhance self-help skills and abilities with which to reclaim control over their daily lives. We promote a sense of hope, to empower individuals to draw on their strengths, potential and capabilities.
We provide information and services within a framework of recovery and support, which we see as essential to reinforce hope, respect and equality. Our task is to work alongside people to encourage each person to live personally fulfilling and rewarding lives.
RAMH was originally established in 1978 and acted as a local forum for discussion, as well as a campaigning body and pressure group. The membership was drawn from local service users, carers, professionals in the mental health field and people who share a passion to reduce misconceptions and promote a greater understanding of mental health.
As a means of achieving these aspirations, RAMH has acted as an incubator for affiliated groups, supporting them to contribute to the network of mental health support in their communities. The organisation has been an active provider of services since 1990, and currently co-ordinates a wide range of services.
Through listening to the hopes, wishes and anxieties of service users, we have developed partnerships with colleagues across the statutory and third sectors, to create a range of support which provides information, intervention and strength for people who are supported by us.
The scope, diversity and professionalism of our services allows us to provide individuals with choices and gives RAMH staff and volunteers the flexibility of drawing on a wide range of personal and clinical skills to enable them to fulfil their roles. RAMH is a Scottish registered charity SC010430.
Our vision is to deliver services to individuals and their families in their local community, to enable recovery from mental ill health and promote well-being.
