No doubt very cool, friendly and helpful staff. Staff helped me with smile. Very basic station with 2 platforms but only one is working. Southern service stops here and back to London again. Service is good on time. No ticket office but ticket machine. Wish they can put more shed at platform 1. Nice little town. Good for visit.
Seating at the station is medieval, clearly not designed by any renowned seating specialist, just some local iron monger.
Not the cleanest station but has an old signal box and station building. Sometimes people get confused about what platform to go from since southern service terminate here as the line ahead is not electrified often leading people to go to platform 1 as opposed to platform 2. Direct link to London, just a shame it's 1 station out of zone 6...
Lovely station, lovely people. Just signs to direct passengers from platform 2 to platform 1 need to be clearer, as the underpass comes out on platform 1 side but entrance to the platform is 20m to the left when Station centre is closed, signs to find that entrance could be more obvious for those passengers in a rush, myself and two other passengers nearly missed our train.
Nice station on the North Downs Line. Served by GWR to Reading and Redhill/Gatwick Airport and Southern to London Victoria originating here. Eastbound London trains via Redhill and Croydon depart from platform 2 south side. Eastbound GWR trains depart from platform 1, and westbound GWR trains depart from platform 2. Often, there can be two GWR trains going in different directions departing at the same time or within a few minutes so make sure you don't get on the wrong train.nnThe subway which connects platforms is not step - free, and there is no bridge. The station building is located on the north side platform 1, which hosts a small ticket office. Beware, the ticket office staff, let alone any staff disappear in the afternoon on weekends. Sometimes, on Sundays, the ticket office and station building is closed and there is a gate to the right a little way along the road to bypass it.nnThere are ticket machines on both platforms, and ticket barriers which are open the majority of the time. There is a canopy on platform 1, and a large shelter on platform 2. There are toilets hidden away in the station building which are often closed.nnThere are Smartcard Validators for Key cards, however Oyster is not valid. Use or Redhill for Oyster/contactless travel, where it is valid.nnHelp points are present, and so are dot matrix indicators and announcement speakers. The announcer is often very quiet. There are also pay phones, which accept cash and card.nnAccess to platform 2 is via Douglas Road outside a Homebase , from Rushworth Road. Access to platform 1 is via Holmesdale road, using an irritating One way system from the level crossing.nnThe car park is by platform 2 presumably because it is the London side. A Londis newsagent and a coffee shop is located on Holmesdale road, on the north side.nnFour bus routes serve the station and Taxis have to be pre - booked as there is no rank. Routes 420 and 460 Crawley, Horley, Redhill, Reigate, Walton, Tadworth, Tattenham, Epsom, Banstead, Belmont and Sutton depart from stops either side of the level crossing on the main road. Route 357 Reigate, Timperley Gardens, Redhill, Merstham, Chaldon, Caterham, Warlingham and Selsdon departs from stops on Rushworth Road, on the south side of the station near the college. Route 422 Reigate, Woodhatch, Westvale Park, Horley, Gatwick and Crawley departs from outside an office, on the junction between Holmesdale Road and Alma Road. There is no bus stop sign here, as the 422 only came to the station recently.nnThe rail replacement Bus stop is outside the station building, on Holmesdale Road, on the north side.
