Was looking forward to eating here. Food is okay and the service with a smile, however was a little disappointed overall. Went as a group and although my garlic mushroom pizza was okay, my colleagues didn't really enjoy their food. Found some of the 'spicy' dishes a bit timid and not impressed with the cooking of the rice, a little stodgy. Not bad, but not great either.
Great Good. Great drinks. Staff were really nice and each one had a smile on their face, especially on a busy Saturday night. Restraunt is good looking and the atmosphere is nice. I think this place is over-looked in the Mailbox with the likes of Miller & Carter and MPW there but from someone who has been to all of them I would definently go to Red Peppers over anywhere else in the Mailbox.
I attended here as part of a large organised party. We waited 45 minutes over the time we booked and it meant we were waiting around getting uncomfortable and bored. We finally sat down and ordered our food. Staff were "okay" but I felt they were quite snappy and impatient with us. I ordered a burrito and the presentation was good. I tasted the burrito and rice and wasn't very impressed. The burrito itself tasted rather plane and like it had been sitting around a while - it was barely warm. The rice wasn't cooked properly and was crunchy. As it was my friends special night I didn't want to kick up a fuss or say anything to upset her hence why I've left a review instead. The pudding, a chocolate brownie, was more successful and was nice. It's a shame as I've been to this restaurant before a few years ago and the standards were much higher. I don't think I'll be eating here anymore however.
Food was great. It came out nice and hot which I didn't expect since it was a friday night. The service was good to start with but got really slow at the end when wanting to leave.
Been here loads of times, was there last night with work... There were 12 of us and we all had a great time. The food and service was amazing. We pre ordered our food which made things loads easier for everyone, 2-4-1 cocktails was an added bonus... If ur in the area you need to drop in. Thanks very much RPB
Excellent place to eat, staff very friendly and helpful. Good food and it was hot.
We went for dinner here on Saturday evening with two of our friends who had travelled up from Bristol. My partner and I had both been here before and enjoyed it but unfortunately this time our experience was awful due to incredibly poor service and two managers who were dismissive and rude. It took 45 minutes for us to get our drinks as our waiter got the order wrong twice, despite coming to check 3 or 4 times. We only got to order our food when we called over a member of staff ourselves an hour after we had sat down. The food itself was actually very nice and we did make sure to say this when we decided to complain. We complained to 3 managers in total. The first manager we complained to made it blatantly clear that he didn't take it seriously, as he shrugged off the poor service by telling us that it was Saturday night. The second manager was actually very apologetic and professional, however he did not have the authority to compensate us for the poor service. We therefore asked to speak to a third manager who had this authority. The third manager was astoundingly rude. She decided that instead of coming to the table to talk to us she would point her finger at us and raise her voice at us from behind a barrier. She eventually decided to deduct the price of 4 drinks from our bill, which she made sure to tell us was purely to 'make us happy', rather than being legitimate compensation for poor service. We genuinely used to like this place, but after this experience we will never be returning.
Pretty average really. Not that the food is particularly bad, just that it's a little overpriced for what it is. Service is okay, but waitresses are a little over enthusiastic when clearing the tables. I mean by that I actually like to finish eating before my plate is taken away. Overall there are better places in Birmingham to eat than here. Most of them are well away from the Mailbox and Broad street area.
A great place for well cooked food and a comfortable atmosphere. Our waitress was funny, accommodating and lovely. _____________________________________________ On my second visit for my moms birthday the food was ok but the service was very slow and poor. One waiter was great about instructions for the cake sorry if I was over the top he was pleasant. One of us asked for water, we didn't get it. One of the waitresses was being very loud with a table behind us so we couldn't hear each other. No one sang when they brought the cake out. We were ignored on several occasions when trying to get service, they'd see our table needed clearing and walk by... the list goes on.
Starter nice but did not represent good value for money, main course was extremely salty I couldn't finish it. The service was poor due to one particular waiter, we were rushed from the time of our arrival. We were part of a large party as there was lots of traffic in the city centre some of our party were running a little late we were warned after just 8 minutes that if they didn't hurry up they could only have a main course & starter. We were told several times there was another booking for our table at 7:00 & made to feel we had to rush. When we'd finished our mains only 2 people wanted a dessert but the waiter had already returned with the bill & then complained that they never asked for a dessert and reminded them that they didn't have enough time as there was only 15 mins left until we had to leave. He then snatched the bill out of one of our party's hand stating that he'd now have to add the desserts I have never given a restaurant a bad review and although only 2 of us in our party did not enjoy our main course to my knowledge All other staff were polite and helpful & the cocktails were nice. However I am extremely disappointed at the rudeness of the waiter. I will not be returning to red peppers again. His poor attitude ruined by God daughters birthday meal!
