Popped in half way on the Mothering Day walk. We were seated near the small but bright bar area. Staff is pleasant and welcoming walkers, dogs, families. Pile load of games make the pub even more homely ..oh, and must forget the delicious fish & chips.
Absolutely delicious - two of us on a date on a very quiet weekday evening. The ambience was perfect, Christmassy and cosy. Service was very friendly and prompt. Food out of this world - we both chose a different selection and managed to find 3 courses each of vegan dishes. Top quality food, inventive menu.
Quaint traditional style pub, with friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. The fish and chips dish was great, the steak and ale pie could have done with more meat.
Oh you don't expect this quality of food in the middle of the chess Valle trail in a small village. The food itself was flawless and delicious. The and the quality of on tap beers and ciders was just perfect.
Having just finished a 10 mile walk, i was famished. This place was a gem i found by accident. My friend and i asked if they had a table as the place was rammed. The very efficient lady in charge was able to squeeze us in if we promised to be done in an hour as the table was reserved. Food looked gorgeous but i just opted for a snack which was dirty fries with beef and cheese
Great lunch at this lovely pub in Chenies @redlionchenies. Excellent food and welcoming friendly staff. Thank you for indulging our doggie with biscuits and attention. He loved it and so did we.
Good food. London prices. Small slaw. Ordered the lamb, they didn't have it. Went for the burger, safe, predictable, mediocre. Served with 25ish chips from frozen and a thimble of bland coleslaw. £16. Even with inflation, its just cabbage, carrot a bit of onion, why so tight?
Despite a sudden influx of customers from a large walking group, the staff coped admirably. The food was as good as we expect from this pub - considerably better than most. The only downside was the preponderance of hoppy bitters although I was assured that the breweries rotate. I was clearly unlucky the day we called since there were no properly malty bitters on offer. However it’s always worth the journey - food, ambience and service all great. Am only knocking off one star since, despite a huge range of beers on offer, not one to my admittedly particular taste.
I took my parents and little girl for a meal tonight for the first time in a few years. Fantastic food, really yummy - great chef! The young waitress was also cheerful and friendly. We will definitely go back to our more regular visits because it still has all the warmth and charm of a real country pub.
I visit this pub from time to time and happened to pay an impromptu visit yesterday evening…. The bar staff are so friendly and welcoming, I had my toddler with me who can be a little handful and the staff were so patient and humouring of her!! Around 6:30 we suddenly had complimentary food put in front of us…. What a nice touch! Can’t recommend this pub enough. Well done Red Lion you’re a shining example.
