Incredibly charming atmosphere. Great food and friendly staff. I highly recommend the sea bass for a tasty and healthy option. The location is lovely - set in a standalone building right next to the large Chorleywood Commons park, you feel very much in the countryside.
Had a great Sunday roast here. Easy online booking and friendly welcome saw us into our heated ‘pod’. Excellent and perfectly timed service from great staff, and my roast chicken was delicious, fresh and well presented. Stuffing was only available as a side order which seems strange, but it was worth the additional fiver.
Superb food, cosy feel to great pub. Pie of the day and lamb flatbread with Feta and pomegranate- absolutely delicious. Followed by hazelnut praline cheesecake with white rum ice cream - generous portion of flavourful heaven.
Nice large country pub/restaurant. We went in a Sunday and the menu has some nice roasts on it. Deserts were nice too and the service came with a smile. It gets quite busy in the weekends and parking is a bit of a challenge.
What a Gem of a place. Seemingly, in the middle of nowhere. Arrived by taxi from Uxbridge, booked a table prior to a evening's entertainment cabaret show at the local Memorial hall, "When we are Married". The Black Horse, is warm and inviting, we stopped though not long enough to get a drink as Franco the host ushered us through to the restaurant and upgraded our table seeing that we were quite burly lads. We took a prime table with surround views of the entire establishment. Was warm and cosy with the din of family and friends in full conversation and laughter. For aperitif we had a Negroni and my brother had a Aperol spritz and a bottle of white wine with the mains. I had a Slow cooked Pork belly with Savoy cabbage and dauphinoise and an additional dauphinoise, an absolutely and fabulous meal the entire meal was delightful. Will cherish the fabulous moments and foodie memories yum-yum. Staff were very accommodating and Chef was as pretty as her food delicious. I wanted to stay, though sadly had to go.
Its ok here, quite an expensive roast @ £18, and fairly mediocre, although good portions. Service was friendly although not attentive - maybe we caught them on a bad day.. or they were just ready to go home.
Typically iconic country pub that is yet in close proximity to an underground station! Probably Chorleywood’s most loved of it’s three pubs, the Black Horse is the ideal place in the ideal spot to have a drink and some dinner, particularly roast on a Sunday - although I have yet to test, or taste, that theory, it seems pretty much guaranteed that this will be so, particularly if the happy customers I rubbed shoulders with are any indication. I just had a cappuccino, but I did browse the menu and it is certainly on my radar for another visit to sample that menu properly! And when I do, I’ll let you know. But for now, I can say that, perched on the edge of the common, yet not too many minutes across the land from Chorleywood’s Metropolitan/Chiltern Line station, the Black Horse is a dog friendly, walker friendly and family friendly pub of traditional English style. If you’re nearby, wander over the common and give it a try.
Stopped for Tuesday lunch, brilliant food, warm welcome, lovely space, loads of parking, just brilliant. Had heard so many good things about this pub, and they’re all spot on, this place is perfect!
Great service, great food, great vibe and while waiting they had a great magician called Miles who popped up and impressed Would recommend to anyone. Kid and pet friendly. 5 stars!
Absolutely top tier food, nothing to complain about. We had one of the outside domes where you can order all your food from a stand up digital menu. Quite fun to use and staff bring it to you, minimal contact, felt safe and warm. The food was all cooked fine and it was a really enjoyable afternoon witj friends. Peopke did stare at us being in the igloo but it was still mice and cosy. Good for a small party or birthday meal seperate from walk ins etc. Recommend!
