Just spent two nights here couple and it was exceptional value for money. The downstairs bar, dining room and restaurant are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The outside areas are also well set out and very nice to sit in. The room we stayed in was small but had everything we needed. The bedding was lovely and the shower was fantastic. Each member if staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Breakfast was delicious and so was the Sunday roast we had on Sunday evening in the restaurant.
We have just spent a weekend here in room 6. Loved everything about it. Very friendly helpful staff from the bar staff who made us great gin tonics. The girls who looked after our room. so cleanThe waiters and the lovely lady who has worked there for 30 years.and served our breakfast. The chef who cooked a brilliant roast dinner. Not forgetting the friendly manager too. Great location. Will definatley be back.
Great pub/Hotel. Room was really nice, very clean and comfy. Lovely sheltered outside area. Breakfast on the first day was great. Second day....At best, it was very slow, at worst, it wasnt good hence 4 stars. My only query not a complaint, just left me puzzled is the menu. Odd. Very odd. Strange. I must stress, this is only my opinion, others may think it's fine. I met with a few colleagues who, unprompted, thought the same. It was sort of trying too hard to be classy. It doesn't need to. It was a great stay. Great hotel. Fantastic location. I'd have no reservation staying again I'd just eat elsewhere, as we did.
We had a Sunday roast here today for the second time and it was absolutely beautiful. My husband had the pie which he said was delicious and I had the nut roast with a huge Yorkshire pudding which tasted fantastic finished off with sticky toffee pudding again fabulous. The staff, as usual, were friendly, welcoming and professional. The dog is always made a fuss of I cannot recommend enough, thank you everyone.
This place is perfect for both dining as well as drinks at the pub. I haven't stayed in their rooms, but I have enjoyed lovely meals there. The service is excellent, the staff are friendly and the facilities are great. There's a lovely family atmosphere and it's very child friendly. Food & drinks: Excellent food options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Drinks are delicious.
Great stay at Bel and the Dragon, lots of walks around Wendover. The room was very comfortable and clean, fresh water and milk on the fridge, teas and coffees in the room. The pub and restaurant are also of great quality, though restaurant a bit overpriced. Breakfast was delicious with a selection of continental croissants, toasts, cereals and savoury full English, vegan English, avocado toasts… I recommend
Charming hotel, central location, parking on site, tastefully decorated room with comfortable beds and a special treat of Sipsmiths sloe gin. Staff all friendly and attentive. I've only awarded three stars due to the breakfasts which were disappointing. Cold poached eggs on day one, overcooked poached eggs on day two, and burnt sourdough toast under smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on day three. All breakfasts were served on cold plates. The only saving grace was the scrambled eggs which were delicious, and my dog enjoyed her sausages. Rooms: Comfortable, well appointed rooms . Comfortable beds. Coffee machine, fridge and chocolates provided, but no biscuits. Lovely complimentary toiletries and super fluffy towels. Ground floor room with disabled friendly bathroom excellent for my disabled mother. Also dog friendly, which is a must. Walkability: Great central location. Also a park nearby to walk the dog.
In two words: stuffing disk. We visited for Sunday lunch, and after requesting the roast chicken, we were surprised when the stuffing was presented in the form of a small dry disk. Another member of our party ordered the roast beef, which was fairly bland and unseasoned - especially given its over 20 quid pricetag. However, the fish of the day was good, as was a soup ordered by one of our party. While neither redeem the stuffing disk, they do move it from a 1 star, to 2 stars.
We visited the Bel and Dragon for a special occasion on Saturday 19th November. The starter was very tasty, although serving soup without bread was a tad disappointing. However, what was genuinely quite upsetting was finding a large caterpillar in my trio of pork main dish. They replaced the meal, didn't charge for my main, and gave me a free soft drink, but it genuinely ruined a special evening. I don't think we should have been charged at all, but we didn't want argue and spoil things any further on the evening. I get that things happen, but when they do it's all about how you deal with them, and I don't think the response was appropriate for the issue we encountered.
Lovely clean accommodation Our room was amazingly clean and comfortable breakfast was a nice experience too . The staff were great . only downside was the pub closed just after we arrived at 4pm and we were not notified beforehand so our plan to eat and have a few drinks there had to be changed . We would highly recommend this hotel and we will be returning when we are next in the area
