"The only house commissioned, created and lived in by William Morris, founder of the Arts & Crafts movement, Red House is a building of extraordinary architectural and social significance.Designed by Philip Webb and completed in 1860, it was described by Edward Burne-Jones as 'the beautifullest place on earth'. The rooms at Red House give a unique view of William and Janey's life and the establishment of what later became Morris & Co.Red House boasts original features and furniture by Morris and Philip Webb, stained glass and paintings by Burne-Jones and embroidery by Jane and Elizabeth Burden. Coupled with bold architecture and a garden designed to 'clothe the house', they add up to a fascinating and rewarding place to visit."

Utterly excellent. If you love William Morris and the arts and crafts revival you'll be in heaven. The property is immaculately kept as are the gardens. Tickets are cheap and the guides are top notch, with a huge wealth of information at your beckon call.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes

The National Trust- Red House was a truly wonderful experience. You can only visit by guided tour which must be booked in advance but it is worth it. Our tour guide was interesting, funny and very informative. #redhouse #williammorris #nationaltrust

Delightful house and garden hidden in the suburbs. Easy to find, which was helpful as we came a long way. Extremely informative and mildly amusing guide. Wish we'd bought a picnic! Caught a glimpse of a fox in the garden too.

I went with a friend at the end of October just before it closed for winter. The guide we had when we did the house tour was very informative. The gardens are well kept by all the volunteers who work all year round.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
This house is a great place with a lot of history in respect of the pre raphaelites. The tour is very good with interesting information and not too long. Things to be aware of are..... The Tea room is not open at the moment. You need to book a tour as it is required to gain access. Parking is on street and free in the local area. An enjoyable place to visit and a nice garden to finish.
