What a waste of a great location this pub is. Located where it is - directly outside a huge exhibition centre - it was as if we had surprised them when lots of thirsty customers descended on them yesterday afternoon. We arrived quite early, while the exhibition was still going strong, and the tables were covered in dirty plates and glasses then. By the time our guests arrived and I had cleared away the plates and glasses the bar was 5 customers deep. Average wait time to get a drink was 10 minutes. An hour later it was 20 minutes. By then they had run out of clean glasses and had reverted to plastic ones. The atmosphere was good and the under-pressure bar staff were great. I am sure there were delegates there last night who were looking forward to experiencing their first British pub… What an awful first impressive! As we did, I hope they jumped on the tube and went further afield where the tables were clean and you could get a drink within a few minutes of going in. Oh, and proper glasses. What a novelty.
I was at the Fox after event over the XL last week and stopped in for a spot of lunch and a couple of drinks. Was very happily surprised at the quality of the food I’d like to give a special mention to the person that served us I think I know was Violette. Extremely helpful and went and checked with the kitchen about what the food contained because of a couple of dietary requirements that I have. Overall I really great place to eat and have a couple of drinks if you’re close by.
Stumbled on this place while taking an evening stroll, what a gem.. Had a couple Guinness and my partner had some cocktails, wow! Best Guinness I have had in a long time, we had some nachos off their nibbles menu and they were superb. The staff were just amazing, happy, funny quick service and nothing was too much trouble, made to feel so welcome. I would travel across London to go here and we will be returning..
This pub used to be a regular haunt of mine for years! Hadn’t been back for a long time due to covid, but decided to go for a bit of lunch and drinks with friends this week. It has had a complete refurb, and looks amazing! The food was delicious, and the cocktails were divine. Was served by a really lovely waitress called Violet. She was beyond helpful, especially as we were all steadily getting very drunk and annoying. Service and atmosphere was amazing. Highly recommend!
I came in with my family and 5 kids on Saturday 10th December. The staff and food was NOT up to standards the kids just ate just ate the burger bun as they didn’t even touch the meat which was burnt and dry and hard. The staff DID NOT even ask anyone on the table if they had allergies. Myself and a member of family didn’t even get our food which we waited over 30 minutes by the time the food came out one of the dishes had egg and was not even asked would you like egg with food. Had to send it back as of contaminated food. My family member did not even get their food. We also waited more than 30 minutes for our soft drinks. The staff did not even know what they was suppose to be manager or supervisor. As the manager was wearing a jacket and no name badge and the supervisor was suppose to be the manger. The rest of the staff was no where to be seen. When coming into the fox excel I would of thought it be a really good pub as I work in pub myself. When I questioned the person they was shocked to hear what I had to say. This was very disgraceful. For your company. I really have been put off coming back into your business. Even we paid for the food that was disgusting and got the drinks for free. Dietary restrictions: The staff did not even ask anyone if they had dietary restrictions. And what they was. Gluten they didn’t even know what gluten was. Not even ask about any other allergies like nuts egg sesame seeds eggs and most of all GLUTEN. If anyone decides to eat when the got allergies please don’t go. As you will sent the food back….
It was a nice pub with a good atmosphere and great food, however they only had 3 staff serving and about 500 people coming out of the EGX event that wanted serving. Get more staff and it would have been a 4/5. A point lost for the state of the of the toilets. Not good.
Nice Pub but not enough bar staff so constantly a queue at the bar and that was a day they knew would be busy because of all the shows right next door in the Excel. Plus they ran out of food! We got the last portion of chips which was a very small portion. Not the best experience for a first time visit.
We had a great day at a trade show in the Excel and to celebrate the team enjoyed drinks at The Fox. The staff were lovely and the venue was clean. Harvey the general manager was a real gent and he even spent some time chatting to my colleagues who work in the hospitality space. Will be back
After an Amazing day at the Excel Dcon, it was a real disappointment to be served with such a disregard for a pleasant experience. The staff were great but the organisation left them high and dry as there simply wasn't enough of them to supply the demand. This imbalance led to long waiting times and often being overlooked regardless of time spent at the bar. Other than this the food from the buffet was very good, this unfortunately didn't make up for the other issues on display. Hopefully this was just an isolated situation.
Went for lunch before the Jurassic World Exhibition....... there appeared to only be 3 staff working the front of the bar/restaurant, which wasn't busy in the slightest yet I was told the first time I went to order food and drinks that they weren't taking any more food orders for 10-15 minutes. 10-15 minutes later, we're told the same thing...... another 10 minutes later I'm told the same thing again and that the chef wasn't their usual chef and he was miserable so they didn't want to upset him by putting too many food orders in!!! They finally agreed to put my order in when I said I had a timed entry to the Exhibition! Our 4 year old son complained every 2 minutes asking where his food, but considering he waited so long was quite patient of him. It took an hour and twenty minutes before food was put in front of us and when it was, my boyfriends hotdog was watery, and my fish burger had a buttered bun I mean who does that? Needless to say we didn't make our time slot to the Exhibit but thankfully they still let us in. Overall, I'd avoid this place like the plague if I ever visit the ExCel again. The service was poor, the food was poor and massively overpriced. We paid £55 for Turkey Dinosaurs, a hot dog, a fish burger, some chicken wings and a couple of drinks.
