Lovely station architecture here. and a lovely city. services to Stafford, Liverpool, holyhead and North Wales, Cardiff and South Wales and Leeds/Manchester
Small train station with 7 ? platforms. Staff are helpful. Toilet facilities are not clean. Minimum seating areas. Walkable from city center but bus ride is available just outside the station.
Chester was very busy Some cobbled streets Fabulous architecture
It's a nice railway station with excellent & helpful staff. There was big horse racing and 1 more students graduation today in Chester. Tons of people were roaming around here and there that too in drunk state but staff managed everything so actively and were available foe anything on toes. There are good cafes like Costa and Cafexpress on the station. Queen and other hotels to stay are just located adjacent to the railway station. At this railway station, the washrooms were clean and open from 6am in the morning till approx 11.30pm. There was a cleaner picking stuff left by irresponsible people on benches or floor so that it's convenient and hygienic for other people.
Great station pretty easy to get about and find the right platform. Lots of trains go through or from Chester. I particularly like how it's now connected to mersyrail making visiting family a lot easier as a regular direct train now rather than changing at Liverpool. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Amazing station, although the customer service agents on the barrier tried making out a ticket wasnt valid along with a rover Which covers the Entire of Wales, Chester, Crewe, Gloucester and some more Which makes me dislike it a bit. But apart from this, not a bad station.
Absolutely appalled by the way the team handled misplacing a ticket, treating a regular traveller with such a lack of understanding should not be commonplace. I had a return ticket AND a receipt showing proof of purchase a mere half an hour prior. TL;DR Unprofessional team with complete lack of understanding.
On my journey from Bangor to LSK, a train cancellation caused some anxiety but have to give credit to the staff in customer services, Adam and the team, sorted out my journey and personally escorted me to my train and made sure that the guard new I was okay to travel.. they went above and beyond. Thank you so much. journey escorted me personally to another train to personally see me safe and speak to you
Not great. Station is extremely bleak after dark for lone travellers, toilets are dire but free. There is an operating ticket gate so keep hold of your ticket! Usual expensive WHSmith shop and not a lot else. Was really annoyed that they allow extremely bothersome canvassers within the entrance trying to harass you for money- really not the best first impression to Chester! Which leads me to the outside and the walk from the station into Chester - what are the council thinking of?! It's lined with dire shops and halfway bedsits ‍ First impressions on arriving in Chester by train is that you have made a terrible mistake it's that unpleasant. Taxis rink and bus stops outside the main door.
Excellent choice of shops and amenities. Excellent display of train times and platforms of the trains.
