Hungry Horse

"The Railway is a welcoming Hungry Horse pub in Meols. Lying on the edge of Merseyside's Wirral Peninsula, our family-friendly pub is only a stone's throw from the seafront. Listen to the sound of the sea as you relax in our beer garden with friends. We're your go-to for hearty pub food, serving all your favourites for prices you'll love. Especially if you take advantage of one of our pub deals and make use of free WiFi. Looking for a filling pub breakfast near me? We've got you. Want to relax over a comforting pub Sunday roast? That's us too. We're also perfect as your friendly local sports pub, showing the football, rugby, cricket, and F1 on Sky Sports and TNT Sports. And we have disabled facilities and coach parking if you need it."

Really nice place. Booked a table but I was a bit early but that was no problem. Got a booth in the corner and it was so comfy. Santa was in the house so the kids were going wild which was lovely to see. My party arrived and we ordered starters and mains. They all arrived really fast and we're nice and hot. I had the steak cooked rare and it was perfect. I've taken a star off for the food because you used to get a tomato and fried egg with your steak, but now you have to pay extra which is a bit rubbish. I know times are tough, but £1.50 for an egg is taking the proverbial for me. Apart from that, great place, great food and we had a great evening Oh yeah, just one more thing. You do alcohol free Guinness which is great, but make sure your bar staff know it goes in a glass and you don't drink it from the can
Hosted a family party for us and could not be more helpful. We chose a buffet menu which was both plentiful & tasty. Big thanks to both Sam & Declan for all their help. Definitely recommend.Food: 5/5
We happened to arrive just before Liverpool FCs opening game of the season. The game was being screened live on Sky Sports - the atmosphere was great...not a place for Everton supporters, I'd guess! Vegetarian options: In addition to traditional Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding, there was a Cashew Nut Loaf on the carvers menu.
A casual pub that serves food basically. We have been to a few of these places now and the menus are pretty much the same among the group, as you'd expect. The potion sizes that we have are rather large at all of these outlets. This has made me and my wife consider sharing the starters, main and dessert! Yes, we literally shared the dessert and still only managed to eat about 3 quarters of it! The food itself is great and for the price you pay, it's a real bargain, especially in todays economy.
Food wasn't the best but perhaps it was our choice all day breakfast in the early afternoon. Beans were dry and the toast was hard. It's the little things that matter and although everything else was ok, these little things spoiled the meal, sorry. Have been here later in the day and the food was better.Food: 3/5
Been here a few times for food now, always enjoyed what we have got. The staff are lovely, great choice of food and drinks. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful and mains were cooked well and great portions. All very reasonably priced. A great place to visit with families, we will come back again.Food: 4/5
Was there Sunday 16th October, have to say one of the nicest hungry horse pubs we've visited. Booked a table which was ready even tho we arrived early. Clean table. Very smiley polite staff and a cracking roast dinner for the 2 of us. I got the extra large this is how a busy family orientated pub should be run. Will definitely be back. Well done
fun family friendly experience from my server max! he Was quick with food and made sure that if we had any problems all we had to do was give him a shout. yummy food and many alternatives available for my significant other. will 100% be back before xmas!
This used to be a great place to eat. We visited recently and left disappointed. We took a chance whilst passing on my recommendation because this was a favourite place of mine to eat. We walked in and asked if any tables were available only to be snottily told to "just have a walk around and see". We ordered from the table on the app and thought drinks would arrive at the table as same with the food but 20 minutes later went to the bar to ask only to be told the drinks were sitting on the bar the whole time where anyone could have taken them. It is not a problem to go the bar but why offer table service and just leave people wondering where the drinks are? It was not clear that drinks had to be collected from the bar The food used to be great pub grub but I had a chicken curry that resembled anything but a curry. My wife had steaks ordered medium-rare and they were so tough that as a former postman, they'd have come in handy strapped to the bottom of my shoes to get me through the slippy winter months. And a microwaved potato was passed off as a jacket potato! The atmosphere was a little weird I couldn't put my finger on it but it just had a weird vibe. Hungry horse is great food and for value but the Railway is nothing in comparison to the other local Hungry Horse in New Brighton the Seahorse, which we have visited twice in the last month and left impressed with the atmosphere and most importantly the food Very disappointed
Great place for a party booking fantastic mixed grill and on sat it's only £8.50 great value for money...
