2nd stay. Super value. Excellent full English breakfast. Staff couldn't be nice. Room warm and clean. Didn't have any issues will noise. Got a sea view ! Thank you for a lovely stay. And I'll be back ! Walkability: Has lift. Close to town and promenade
Arrived Saturday afternoon without a booking , not only did they have a room available but a huge room with a bay window overlooking the sea. Huge comfortable bed as well, very quiet as well so we slept really well. We even decided to stay an extra night as we were so pleased with the room. Also good buffet breakfast served by some very friendly ladies, receptionist helpful too. Great value for money and will stay again
Great service and lovely room. Got a family room off-peak for £50, breakfast included. Receptionist was great and gave me some good tips for food and drink. Well kept rooms with most facilities. Aberystwyth off-peak in late December doesn’t sound like it’d be good, but the folks here are lovely all year round - and if you like physics, geology, geography, and/or nature just being awesome, Aber in winter is a good time and place to watch the sea show you its teeth. Winter storm surges with high tide are mesmerising here. Centre of the bowl of Wales’ coast line, so you get everything the Irish Sea and Atlantic can throw concentrated at a point. If you know your physics and geology enough, you can figure out where to stand so you don’t get soaked Right outside the hotel is a groin surrounded by large boulders that break the swell before it hits, whilst either side explodes. Perfect placement! And it’s loud - like metal concert loud! Kind of like it’s screaming Iron Maiden’s Fear of the Dark at you. But plus points to the hotel, the sound proofing is great as well, so you can go to sleep when you’re done
If you're looking for a good-value but comfortable 'base camp' for a holiday stay, this is a great choice. The rooms are... basic, rather than luxurious; ours had a large damp patch high up on one corner of the wall, and the bathroom door was a slide-along affair that wasn't exactly robust, but the view from our bedroom window was spectacular, and we left the window open at night just so we could hear the sea while we drifted off to sleep. Breakfast is a buffet-style setup; the cooked items were replenished pretty quickly as a whole, but sometimes you had to wait for a bit when there were more than a couple of families in the dining room at once. The food was well-cooked though. If you're not looking for a luxury hotel experience, but just want a clean, comfortable place to crash and grab a breakfast in the morning that won't break the bank, this is ideal. And if you can get a room with a sea view, that's a massive bonus!
Room was okay, not modern at all but fine as a bed for a night or two. We were right at the top and it was boiling up there at night. The bathroom wasn't great. The shower water pressure was so abysmal it barely made it past the controls. There is a lift but it doesn't serve the top floor and can only be used by one person at a time. There are steps leading into the reception so not great for those who can't use the stairs. Breakfast wasn't anything to talk about. Passable at best with a limited selection on offer.
Traditional seaside BnB on the front. Dated, woodwork chipped, our room did have 2 bedside tables with lamps BUT the one side didn't have a socket for it and cord too short too reach to double socket on other side of bed!! Room very small .. bathroom had nowhere to put toiletries. And the toilet moved when you sat on it... disconcertaining for that 2am visit...Advertises 'parking' but when questioned was told, its out there on the promenade. No spaces , and it's time restricted anyway. Can't believe owner can get away with that... Its a 4 storey building with 8 flights of stairs. Outside it advertises it has a lift... its a disabled lift that will only take 1 person at a time and is switched off 9pm to 9am.. but a couple... lady in wheelchair.. told us it wasn't on at all Tuesday. Breakfast probably the best bit of the experience BUT it was down a flight of stairs... no lift! Quality bacon, sausages suspect, tinned beans and plum tomatoes...hash browns but they were crucified. 2 rounds of toast brought to table for each guest, but only 3 butters.. had to ask for more...if your having a treat you need a proper treat!! Rooms: Single wardrobe..door hanging off and so was handle. Cleaners must see this so why has it not been addressed? Small pane in window cracked. Spare toilet roll looked like it had been there since pre Covid.. dusty, stained .. wouldn't use it. Cleaner Saturday was fantastic though and sorted ... BUT its checking in day that counts... Walkability: It's on the very north part of the promenade so a nice walk to town, the pier and the marina
Fantastic views. Feeling of the sea constantly attacking the land - out of this world. And this is it, when it goes to positives. Mold in the rooms. Lift existent, but extremely small and working at random hours. I had to move all the luggage from the top floor to the ground floor via tricky staircase. Staff ok. Beautiful smile, but not too organised place in general. 2 small toilet rolls for 3 nights for a family. Almost no soap. Had to go half a mile to get the breakfast paid for, as cook was unwell imagine that excuse in Premier Inn - similiar price. Would be good for 30-60 not 120.
This hotel has had some awful reviews and we can honestly say.......... we did not encounter any of the problems that some had to put up with fortunately, let's hope they have been ironed out....don't get me wrong, the building needs renovating and redecorating, that being said, it was clean and tidy and the young, polite and helpful staff put in a massive effort to make our stay pleasant. Breakfast was self service and very good, with plenty of choice. We appreciate everyone in hospitality has had a rough couple of years, let's hope it keeps getting better. Big shout out to the kitchen staff, we'll done good and Aberystwyth
Location wise, no issues, this hotel is at the front of the beach with amazing views. As from a hotel perspective, the place could do with a bit of cleaning, windows were dirty, bathroom was not in the best of conditions either and obviously the room was not properly cleaned as there were some labels from shopping from previous guest. We stayed for 5 nights, and there was no room cleaning any of the days, we actually had to ask for a few things ourselves. The breakfast is quite basic, I will say we were better off having breakfast at local cafés after the first day we tried it.
Very dated needs the hotel inspector to visit and bring it up to date. Having work done to outside so everywhere very dusty. Our room on 3rd floor was a pain to get to as lift out of order, struggled to lock the room when we went out, nobody on premises to speak to if any problems. Only shining light was the breakfast chef nice guy lovely breakfast.
