The gym is great especially with the recent improvements. However, few points that made me give it 3 stars. The gym is always freezing cold for some reason, it’d be nice to turn on the heating these days so that we don’t freeze while working out. It’s not the weather that makes the temperature horrible but it’s the ACs they have. They literally blow cold air in your face while working out; a great way to catch a cold. Another thing is the slippery entrance. The staff could spray some salt or anything where people enter. Other than the fact that the entrance is odd and steep, I witnessed more than 5 people slipping and catching themselves in and out of the gym. We all wear trainers that are not fit for outdoors during this weather but at least make it safe enough to enter and exit the gym. Last thing is the music; it’s great to have music at the gym but also set it at a reasonable volume so that people can also hear their own music if they’d like to. Sometimes it’s so loud I can’t hear my own.
ATTENTION FEMALES - male gym workers come into the female changing rooms while your getting undressed!! I contacted PureGym about this a few weeks back when it happened for the first time. Apparently it’s okay for them to do this as long as they shout staff check before they enter. It has now happened again even tho I shouted I am getting changed do not come in the male worker still entered the changing room I started shouting at the top of my lungs do not come in he was already in and about to walk round the corner where the showers are and he shouted sorry and ran out. I find this totally unacceptable the last thing you want when your getting showered is a man walking about the changing rooms - even tho I have complained nothing has been done. There was also a female PT on the floor who could have entered for a staff check rather than a man. Women you’ve been warned! In reply to the owner I actually already emailed Adam Copes when it happened the first time. Adam thinks it’s totally acceptable for men to enter the womens changing rooms as long as they shout in to let you know they are coming in. The second time it happened I shouted that I was getting changed and not to come in and he came in anyway - I think my review is therefore fair and should serve as a warning to other women who use this space to shower and change. It is important to have safe spaces for women to get changed, you don’t want to have to worry about male gym workers entering whenever they feel like it. Shouting your getting changed and don’t come in doesn’t seem to deter them. I also notice there is no signage in the changing rooms to warn women male workers may enter for staff checks - even when women workers are available and on the gym floor.
Used this gym on a short-term basis. Generally: really good, no big complaints although access is difficult if you don't have car access. It is much cleaner and better maintained then its equivalent on Adelaide Street. It is better spaced out and has a more modern feel to it. Changing rooms and shower area are infinitely better. Has everything you need and especially with cardio equipment. Maybe could use a few extra weight machines but has one of everything. Only small downside is the free weights are not in the order they are supposed to be - and not even close. Obviously this becomes impossible to maintain unless members are regularly reminded of this and monitored by staff.
I was a member of a different pure gym for years until I had to quit because it got too crowded, there was really no quiet times anymore unless you could go at 3am. Thought I’d give boucher a go after being away for a while. It has good equipment just not enough of it. Literally impossible to stick to a program when the place is packed out all the time, can’t get a rack, no space to deadlift cause it’s too crowded, can’t even get a bench at times. Walked out after 5 mins and cancelled my membership, reminded me why I quit PureGym in the first place, it’s far too busy to get anything done.
Very sad to see fitspace belfast closed down.. hope it reopens under new ownership soon.and all the same people return and get there jobs back. and we can get back to our training. good luck ..j
Very well equipped, especially post refresh. Plenty of squat racks, benches and functional machines. Staff helpful and friendly.
Clean, plenty kf equipment and good atmosphere. Great place for a quality workout.
Excellent range of equipment to cater for all types and at a good price no contracts. The place is always clean and open 24 hours a day which is great. Only downside is that it can get a bit busy in the evening with people being out of work. Plenty of posers too!
Gym has been refurbished and they have made some huge mistakes in layout. Have reduced the space for free weight bench exercises, reduced space around squat racks and fixed weights machines have been pushed as close together as possible. All this the make extra space for a rack that only 4 can work at.. a lot of poor layout choices. Good gym turned bad.
Gyms well stocked, clean and professional for the price. Numbers a bit high for comfort with COVID still be present but plenty of hand sanitising and surface cleaning stations. Good value for money, main downsides are the wait limit for the carpark and the locker rooms being closed from midnight.
