This is an incredibly beautiful historic hotel! Because it is nearly 100 years old and has been preserved as a national historic site, it provides a great way to experience a piece of history. As long as you don’t expect a big flat screen TV or oversized room and understand that this is a truly historic hotel, you will thoroughly enjoy your stay. We booked 2 queen rooms for our stay with our 2 teenagers and had adjoining rooms, which was so convenient. I loved the authentic keys that were provided and the big balcony accessible from our room with a beautiful view of the mountains and the lake. The beds were also very comfortable! We spent each evening we were there sitting in the lobby area enjoying delicious food and drinks. Dinner in the lounge and high tea at the The Royal Stewart Dining Room were both great. If you are in Waterton and looking for a cozy place to stay, this is the perfect place for you! We’ll definitely be back the next time we are in the area.
My husband and I had a wonderful vacation at The Prince Of Wales Hotel in Waterton, AB. The first staff member we met was the parking lot gate-keeper, who was friendly and knowledgeable. Next we met some of the Bell team members, who in their kilt uniform provided a wow moment for us. Thank you! They were also outgoing and chatted easily with us. Our check-in at the registration desk went very smoothly and quickly. Our room was nice; cozy, simply decorated, and the bed very comfortable. When we had dinner, our server was very helpful when we asked for her advice in suggesting a dish. The meal looked and tasted very delicious. There was a family feel while we were relaxing in the lobby. Small clusters of guests visited and played games while others enjoyed taking in the amazing view out the large windows. The Prince Of Wales has a beautiful gift shop with so many items including clothing, postcards, key chains, games, items for children, bath salts, mugs, knives, wooden bowls and more. We enjoyed spending time browsing and purchasing a few gifts. Our vacation at the Prince Of Wales hotel was a memorable experience not only because we enjoyed the view and the fine woodwork of such a historic structure but mostly due to the great team of staff members. Thank you all!
Although we didn't stay in one of the rooms here, we were welcomed by the gate attendant/valet parking person who treated us very kindly. He answered all of our questions and gave us good tips on how and where on the property to get the best photos. Bravo to him for his kindness. As for the property, it is amazing and we were sad that we didn't stay the night. Very glad we stopped in. Will definitely return. Looking forward to returning as the views are spectacular!
What an experience! This hotel is rich with history and the perfect place to stay in Waterton. The room was fairly large, full of character with a comfortable bed, clean linens, and an outstanding view of the lake. It was beautiful to watch the landscape change at different times of the day. The staff was very helpful and friendly, which added to an already fun experience. I enjoyed climbing up to the top rooms - so worth it!
The hotel rooms are ok, but the location is awesome. Although expensive, spending a night results in a memory you will never forget. The magical time in the evening enjoying the chairs in the lobby looking out over the lake after all the day visitors have left. Plus the staff was so nice and friendly, even at the end of the season. Not just a few, but every person that we interacted with. Loved it!
Beautifully maintained historic hotel. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Amazing views. Restaurant was also very good. Waitress recommended the Elk Ragout and Trout. Both were excellent as were the Mussels to start. Reasonably priced wine list.
Beautiful building inside and out. Set in the most beautiful mountains above Waterton Lake. I never miss high tea when I am here. The rooms are nice and clean, too. Semi rustic, but that is the charm of staying here. The charming town of Waterton is next door.
Can't beat the views from this historic hotel. Friendly and accommodating staff and good food. Only downside is the historic elevator which can't be operated by guests, and doesn't go to the top two floors. Would still highly recommend for those without mobility issues.Rooms: 4/5
Historic, charming & authentic. It’s been one of my all-time favorite hotels to stay in, and I’ve been very fortunate to stay here multiple times working with the MT Sobek tours. I’ve loved getting to hear the staff’s stories, indulge in phenomenal meals with even better views, bask in afternoon tea & listen to the nightly historic chats. I look forward to returning personally to enjoy it again some day!
We did not stayed at the hotel so I can not offer an opinion of the rooms. The dinner was good, drinks were tasty, price was according to the location and the historic value of the hotel. The exteriors of the building could use significant upgrades and maintenance to make it a real 5 star hotel. The location could not be better with a beautiful view of the Upper Waterton Lake. Nearby activities: The town of Watertown is right next and within walking distance of the hotel. Lots of activities to do and places to visit there. Wi-fi: Not available at the hotel unless you are staying there. I think. Most places allow guests and visitors to use their wi fi even for a small fee could be worth it.
