Exactly as described Chris is an excellent host always willing to discuss days out. The.food is plentiful and freshly cooked. The view over the beach to the sea and coast makes for a relaxing stay.. our room was bigger than expected and we would certainly stay againRooms: 5/5
This is a lovely bed and breakfast in a lovely location. The owner is a nice host and always makes you feel very welcome. The rooms are lovely and luxurious and very clean. The beds are comfortable allowing for a good night sleep after all the busy days. Food is excellent and there is a good variety on the menu. I would recommend this as an excellent base for touring the beautiful Cornish countryside.
Perfect location and Chris is the perfect host. The breakfast is amazing, the person who said its the best meal of the day had obviously stayed here! The bedroom has a comfy bed, and great views from the balcony The cream tea on arrival is a great touch, and sets the standard for the rest of the stay
My husband and I were able to spend 6 nights just before this last lockdown, this being our third visit this year with another three booked for next year. We love it, the Pot and Barrel is like a home from home, the accommodation is everything you'd want, the food is excellent and Chris the host could not be more accommodating, he has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. Bude is a great place to visit summer or winter and until we can go cruising again we will continue visiting Bude. Every need is taken care of, its like cruising but without the sea sickness. We love it.
We have just had three days at the Pot and Barrel. Chris the owner could not have made us more welcome. Our room was warm and clean with everything we needed. With wonderful views across the bay The food was amazing great choice well cooked and presented. .We are already looking to book again. Penny and Dave Foster
Lovely B&B. Chris is a very warm host. The location, for me was excellent. A few paces from the beach, so you come home with sand in the car to remind you. Our second visit. You can leave the car all day while walking the cliffs. Came with Caroline. Went to 'Life's a Beach' to eat book it beforehand. The views are superb. Lovely for a break to blow the cobwebs away, or just to enjoy Cornwall. Bring a wetsuit if so inclined. And maybe a windbreak ! Very happy cornish days.
Every thing from the room to the food was excellent. Chris gave a very warm welcome and carried on for the week we stayed . Would recommended it to anyoneRooms: 5/5
A 1st class, 5 star B&B in a magnificent location within sight and sound of the sea. Chris is a wonderful host who provides an excellent and varied breakfast. Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and a good shower. Can't wait to go again.
Excellent accommodation ,overlooking Crooklets beach ,with trouble free parking .The food is first class ; the proprietor is most professional and personable ; an excellent establishment in every respect . We had a most enjoyable stay .Thank you.Rooms: 5/5
We visited the Pot and Barrel for my wifes 81st birthday on the 23rd March. The first surprise was the 2 flights of steps to the front door.Once inside we were given 2 flimsy pairs of mule type slippers, which were to be worn in the house. They were not very satisfactory as they constantly slipped off our feet . Then we were shown to our room which was up a further twisty flight of stairs, with no handrail. The room itself,The Gold Room was small but well furnished, but with nowhere to sit, other than on the bed. The dress code was smart/casual, which was slightly at odds with wearing slippers, and being served by the owner wearing shorts and a T-shirt. On the 3rd night my wife needed the toilet during dinner, and as there was no other toilet she had to go to our room. Unfortunately due to the lack of a handrail, and the slippers, she slipped on the stairs, and was unable to get up. It took myself and Chris, the owner a good ten minutes to get her sitting up so she could walk again. The lack of a handrail is bad especially for older people, and the slippers provided were very flimsy. older people visiting the Pot and Barrel should be aware of this, and should choose the Green Room, which whilst not having a sea view, is on the ground floor
