Pleasures Of Past Times

About

Pleasures of Past Times perfectly describes our stock. Be prepared to find an eclectic mix of treasures from bygone eras. Opened in 1967, the shop reflects our Theatreland location, specialising in books and ephemera relating to the performing arts.

Story

The walls are covered with original theatre, Music Hall and Variety playbills, programmes and periodicals dating as far back to the early 19th Century.

Material relating to theatre institutions such as Henry Irving, Gielgud and Olivier vie for shelf space along side Music Hall favourites such Dan Leno, Little Tich and Harry Lauder. With pop culture icons such as The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Dr Who and 007 recently hitting 50th anniversaries, our stock is slowly catching up with our 46 year history! Also expect to find Magic & conjuring books, children books, Victorian & Edwardian postcards, sheet music and all manner of curiosities.

A mouth watering display of 60's and 70's culture. Probably unique in London. If you're selling and they're interested you will get the best price in town. The two comments listed by Luana and Giulia below strike me as neurotic waffle. If they just wanted a photo record of pop culture they should of gone to the Hard Rock Cafe.
Amazing bookstore! Had one of those great conversations where you loose track of time with the owner, authentic and truly unique products in there, the owner is highly knowledgeable and I was so interested in the stories and history behind each and every object in the store, reasonably priced for one of a kind very special collectables.
Interesting and flamboyant and wild! Walk into a treasure of visuals delights! Much loved shop and shop owner and shop dog!
I always make sure to visit Pleasures of Past times whenever I am in London. It is a treasure trove of wonderfulness.
Superb shop, friendly staff, and some amazing items.
