Welcome to a classic Ayrshire 4 star hotel - Piersland House in Troon, near Prestwick Airport, a stunning, beautifully restored, William Leiper inspired country house hotel in glorious gardens, grounds and sun facing terrace – the former residence of Sir Alexander Walker, son of Johnnie Walker of Scotch whisky fame. My partner's parents have stayed here a few times and chose to do so again on a Tuesday evening. We came up to visit them and have a meal in the bar. Their room was a little disappointing. It was the smallest in the main hotel and had a tiny bathroom - no bath. They were fully booked so no change was possible. They did offer the honeymoon sweet for 20 quid extra though. Meal was quite nice - 2 course for 18 or so. Portions were decent and food was tasty (not fine dining but good nosh) but service was quite slow. It was very busy but the fire was definitely serviced more frequently than we were. Nice atmosphere but I sense it's a very popular venue so they're not falling over themselves to go the extra mile.

Attending a family Wedding. Hotel is very nice. Friendly staff. The drinks prices are reasonable, 4 drinks around £15 and fast service. The function area and toilets are clean and well looked after. Buffet was good but 1 easier of bacon does not constitute a bacon roll. Would definitely recommend this hotel for functions.

I won my overnight stay in a competition.  This included a wonderful 3 course meal for two and presecco.  Our stay was much needed and absolutely fantastic, beautiful setting in the glorious hotel.  We loved everything about it and cannot fault anything.

Beautiful hotel. Many of the rooms are in the form of terrace cottages. Mine had four rooms, if you count the walk in wardrobe. They also let you bring dogs. Good is excellent. Also the whiskey selection includes something for almost everyone.

I went to this hotel for a meal after a funeral. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. Being vegan quite a lot of people do not understand and so I have yo explain. The staff were well versed and the chefs on form. They knew what I could and could not eat, they were always extremely friendly about this matter, not all places are, and instead of the usual risotto you're offer anywhere else I had the most delicious vegetable stir fry. They even had soy milk for my coffee. Thank you guys for brightening my day.
