The train station was empty and the booking office was closed. There was reasonable seating space.
Sunday but with trains running. Ticket office closed, waiting room & toilets closed, cafe closed. Little shelter and no heat. Not great.
Very quiet station compared to Yeovil Junction. It has 3 platforms. The staff at the station are very friendly and helpful. I love the old signal box. Could do with a more regular rail service.
Much quieter than the other station not in Yeovil, Yeovil Junction, the staff are always polite and helpful. The only problem I have is with GWR...why oh why can't you put on a regular shuttle service that just goes back and forth between Yeovil Pen Mill and Yeovil Junction, this would enable passengers travelling from London to transfer easily between stations instead of having to wait ages for a connecting bus service.
Likeable station because of its original features, such as the signal box and roofing, being left largely intact and adding character. The wave and curve of the main railway track leading into the platform is another pleasing touch.
The gentleman selling the tickets is an absolute star, always polite, very informative and particularly today! I got to the station, bought my ticket then popped to the ladies. I came out to see my train to Bath leaving the station! Completely my own fault but he was very caring and kind. Refunded my ticket then suggested that I could get a train to Weymouth which I did and had a lovely day out. This man is an absolute gem and is an asset to the station
It seems a pleasant small town station, neat and tidy with staffed ticket office, waiting room and toilet facilities. There is a free car park and cosy tea room. Train services are available to Dorchester, Weymouth, Westbury, Bath and Bristol and changes onwards. The old style signals and signal box make it a lovely little spot.
Nice and simple for a Rail station. Manned most of the time, easy pickup point, not that much to it. Has an on-site cafe, Pen Mill Hotel is the nearest Pub & accommodation, Royal Marine Inn is tucked away and cheaper & more approachable. Path cutthroughs to "country park" useful as a shortcut to the town centre. Looks the same distance on the map, but doesn't go over an inconvenient hill.
It closes even before 4 PM ...imagine you are waiting for your train after a long tired day at 7pm OUTSIDE and with the cold weather coming ..its miserably ...I wish you guys consider this and be more human like ? Even with Covid ..almost all chairs inside the "STATION" are all limited and closed to sit on . better close the whole station if you can't make night shifts for it anyway.
Small station with 2 platforms and services the Westbury to Weymouth line with those trains run by GWR - introduction of some trains to Yeovil junction, and London via Yeovil or Westbury run by SWT Booking office usually open but can be shut if not enough staff and also information board is available No lifts at the station with an old fashioned bridge though there is a way of getting push chairs and bikes off rather than carrying them over The only draw back that it is a walk to the centre of Yeovil, but it is along the old railway line and is signposted PS 05/12/2019 since I wrote the review almost a year ago now - car parking charges have been introduced - there is a 20 minute free for those picking up There is no machine for paying at the station and the information is available at the station - do this through your phone if you can cope with the technology - Car parking run by APCOA - prices seem reasonable. This has not been tried but if the ticket office is open you can buy your parking ticket with your train ticket - updates from fellow reviewers would be great
