ATTENTION Halal and Kosher eaters! I was pleasantly surprised by the attention and care of my dietary needs as a Muslim at Papa's Barn. It is very hard to find establishments nowadays who will go out of their way to cater for special requirements. The food at Papa's Barn is very fresh, the chips and batter very crisp, light batter that doesn't soak your plate with oil!! They only serve line caught fish and it is very tasty. They also can grill your fish if you prefer it done that way. My family had a great Mother's day lunch, superb service, fantastic setting and location. The best Fish and Chips by a longshot. Well done. Thank you Team Papa's.

1st time I have been here in years! Food was very good. Fish was burning hot but not over cooked. Plenty of it too! My daughter had a kids meal which was a good size. Great service as well. Thoroughly recommended.

I have never been to Papa's barn before but was taken there as a treat this weekend. I've heard excellent reviews so looked forward to it. I have a very small appetite so asked if it was possible to order a 'kids meal' as that's as much as I can eat! I've ordered a kids meal in many restaurants and have never had it queried. Chicken chunks, chips, peas or beans and ice cream to follow £4.95! Sounded ideal. When I ordered I was advised that they may not be able to serve me a kids meal so I asked the waitress to check. When she returned, she said that I could have the chicken bites and chips but no peas or beans or ice cream. I didn't want to embarrass my dinner date so I agreed. Any other time and I would have left! I note there was no reduction in price on the bill even though I only had half the food!! The restaurant was not busy and I was prepared to pay for a meal so I fail to understand the problem. Would they tell a child he couldn't order an 'adult' portion because he/she is a child? I think not. Suffice to say, I refuse to pay £11+ for a meal which I know I will only eat half of. This has soured my opinion of the restaurant and I therefore will not return!! What a shame!!

Brilliant food it's real old fashioned fish and chips experience. Light crispy batter on the massive fresh fish and proper chips. Best I have for years !!!!!!

The finest traditional fish and chips eat-in experience this side of Harry Ramsden's. Loads of fish to choose from, cooked either battered or grilled with a choice of sides including the go to favourite, chips. It's not finesse food by any means. What you do get, you pay heavily for. Lovely staff and from the looks of things a top choice for blue collar families.
