Nice, bright, open plan pub with outside seating area in the back and a decent choice of cask and bottled beers. There is a small discount for CAMRA members. I didn't have any food but they have a new chef there experienced in bar food. Parking is on street and chargeable. It is about a twenty minute walk from Hove station. Worth a visit.

10 oz rib eye steak with mash, peas and gravy is to due for. If you like it medium rare go towards rare because sometimes it is more on the medium side. The staff are pleasant, efficient and not stuck up their own arse. Drinks are reasonable, I would like to see more of a choice just like the Good Companions which is a 10 minute walk near 7 Dials Roundabout. The music played over the speakers is just a bit bland but at least you can hear your conversations. Lunch time and early evening trade and people are good, but I wish there was a better atmosphere after 9pm on Fri, Sat, Sun. It can be a bit dead unless there is some sort of entertainment on ie sports, a band (preferred) etc. Drinks garden is out the back, the best place to get the sun is out the front and you can watch the traffic go by.

The menu and food has improved a lot here. And very well priced. Recommended.

Very cheap food. Some meals better than others. I.e the fish and chips is much better than the steak and chips. Burgers are ok too, but don't expect too much at these low prices. Always some nice ales too.

Good choice of beers, cider and spirits. If you like sports this is a place to go at the weekend. Food available through out the day.
