Awful experience. Receptionist Pam was very rude and spoke to me like rubbish infront of the whole waiting room. Definitely don’t take your dog there if they are nervous, they had no patience for our scared greyhound, with the vet trying to force him to do things. We heard so many amazing reviews about this place but we will never be returning there again.
UNPROFESSIONAL. Rung up to see how much it would be to get my dog seen as I’m not from the area, I advised the receptionist that I was tight on cash as I am here for bereavement and I got told I could either have pain relief or have my dog put down. Absolutely disgusting as they hadn’t even asked what my dogs symptoms were, seems as if they’re after a quick bit of cash and don’t care for their customers or animals at all. My advice would be to steer clear!
Took my dog Lola into vets and saw Alex. Was amazing and treated Lola very good. Would highly recommend.
Can’t recommend pakefield vets enough they have been amazing my 20 week old dachshund Toby has already had to have an operation and the service we received was second to none. Staff are great and Alex is amazing If your looking for your own Noel Fitzpatrick then Alex is the man to see !!
Alex the vet is always helpful and talks to my dogs to try keep them calm
Our concerns about our cats health were brushed off until the only option was euthanasia. When he first started misbehaving and acting unlike himself, he was taken to the exam room, no idea what happened in there as we weren't allowed in. He was given a diagnosis of fleas and a slight heart murmur, and we got a large bill. 12 days later, he was on deaths door from "heart problems." He wasn't even 10. How did he deteriorate so quickly? We tried to tell the one vetinarian at this practice of our concerns, and his response was "He's misbehaving because he's uncomfy." Yes, probably because his heart wasn't pumping correctly, but he refused to fully hear our concerns, just offered steroids... that he promptly started vomiting on. When told so, the vet commented "That's strange" and still didn't recommend he come in for a follow-up, just to take him off the medication. We were worried we were overreacting. We wanted reassurance and told ourselves "It's okay, the vet knows best, he'll be okay. The vet will fix him up." How wrong we were. Somehow they also didn't know we were on the VIP plan despite his file saying "VIP LastName", so we had to pay full price. No support during COVID; VIP plan included flea treatments, we saw none when avoiding travel due to the pandemic. They added £75 "credit" to us when we had to pay full price despite being on the VIP plan, only £10 was used and we only got £10.63 refunded. So they stole our money. Cremation was £300, double the price of what I found online. We can't eat this month and got only a tenner back with our cats ashes. We will never return with future animals. Our cat could be alive today if they had listened. +1 star for the treatment he got when we first joined the surgery, and for the vet being apologetic that he ignored our poor boys condition. -4 for his, and our, last treatment.
The vet made a mistake during my cat's euthanasia. It was horrific. The vet didn't prime the IV line so he injected air into my cat. My poor cat had an awful end instead of a peaceful end. The vet only admitted to this mistake after I complained in writing. I complained as I believed something had gone wrong due to how awful my cat's last moments were, the vet then admitted that he forgot to prime the IV line because it was a busy time of day for him. I also complained to the RCVS about this, who closed my case as they said malpractice is not serious professional misconduct so they wouldn't do anything about it. They also agreed that the vet did the right thing in not admitting to his mistake until I'd queried what happened.
