came here on open day very nice tour but the cell were messy dont know whether it was real pee or a paint but they do warn you not to touch the walls
My husband attended a case management discussion last month for a small claims action. As he was waiting to be seen, two other cases were in and out within 10 minutes of each other. He assumed his case would take longer than that as he brought 16 documents of evidence that he wanted to present to the court to help him win the case. As well as this he expected the other party to be able to present their evidence and the Sheriff, Sukhwinder Gill to ask any questions to both of them to help clarify issues regarding the case for the sheriff to make a judgement / or opportunity for them to negotiate. This was based on what we had read online about what to expect at a case management discussion. In reality what happened was the Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill admitted in front of her clerk assistant, the other parties lawyer and my husband that she did not read all the crucial evidence he had lodged online. She mentioned he had submitted too much evidence which I thought was absolutely disgusting and a ridiculous thing to say to someone who is defending themselves. It made me think that she didn't want to do her job properly by not reading everything. They only wanted to ask one question which seemed like the basis of how the case was going to be won which did not have any context behind the whole case. As well as this, the other party admitted in court that they lied on the Claimant's Form about several important details about the case which the Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill did not care about. My husband expressed he felt useless in regards to making his points and case in this short period of time especially when it was clear the sheriff was so bias to the other party due to not acknowledging his substantial evidence and not taking action on the other party for clearly lying on the Claims Form to gain more money out of him. Instead of hearing both sides of their dispute in full, the sheriff made a quick judgement against my husband and rewarding the full amount of money that was made up on the Claims Form within 10 minutes of being the room. It seems to me that if you pay the Small Claims Fee you automatically will win your case, even if you lie in court and do not have any substantial and quality evidence to support your case. Even the other parties lawyer was sheepish and shocked that they won the case. My husband & I are deeply disappointed in the justice system in Scotland and after speaking to several lawyers, Councillors and Citizens Advice about the case and what happened in the case management discussion they all came to the conclusion that justice was not served. They also told us there was no point in appealing the case on the basis the Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill did not read all of my evidence as she would most likely pretend she did in order to save face. And to read articles about this sheriff online about other cases she has made terrible judgements on, I'm surprised she's still got a job. Good luck if you get Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill!
I found it dismally inefficient and lacking in more than the most basic amenities. The underground cells are smelly, claustrophobic and dirty without one window. I'd not like to work there. Many of the people held there are subsequently found not guilty, so don't be quick to state that the people in those cells deserve to be there. They are all human too.
Receptionists are slow as a week in the jail literally!!

They keep sending people to jail and I can't resonate with that...let the people thieve and pillage
Justice has to be served but remember the legal profession doesn't want to rock the boat. Basically any case boils down to emotion and how underhanded the other party is.
If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. 2nd best cup of tea in a polystyrene cup I have ever had.
No facilities for anyone with a disability..
