They pride themselves on their burgers here and they do indeed make a good burger and it is worth going to try it out. The decor is nice, service is usually friendly too and there is a nice outside seating area under the railway arch (you can't smoke though - which is good if you want to eat outside but not do a passive cigarette at the same time). There are a few issues with the place. Firstly, go in the evening, and you will have a long standing wait, there is no booking as far as I am aware. Standing waiting to eat for 15 - 20 minutes does take something out of eating experience and reminds me of kids standing outside nandos. Secondly, when you buy your expensive burger, you do only get that burger... wrapped in paper like McDonald's, and on a metal tray like jail. I'm not a fan of either establishment. So if you were expecting chips or any side with that you need to go and order it. I'm not trying to compare this place unfairly to fast-food as it is really good food, I just sit there thinking it is all coming across as more pretentious then it probably intends to, and you really don't get much for your money. 4* as the food is good.

If you get one thing, get the loaded fries. Burger was really good, well cooked and packed with flavour but the fries were on another level. Drink selection is good, has a nice atmosphere, good for post work food. Definitely one of the best burger places on Birmingham.

I first visited Original Patty Men back in 2016, I really enjoyed the food. At the time I went with my work colleagues. There was a mix of us all there, different ages, sexes and ethnicities. As I mentioned it was a fantastic meal. The following visit I went with my girlfriend (now wife), we sat down on our table and we ordered our food. However a few times the manager/ owner looked at me in a strange way. Not too sure what the look was about, but I've seen that look a few times. I was the only guy in the restaurant who was ethnic, middle eastern looking shall I say. I didn't think anything of it and enjoyed the food. We paid the bill and left. My wife decided to visit with her family and she explained the awkward stares her family received as well. The food is good, but if the staff will constantly look at you as a minority then the experience is not good. Delicious beef and bacon burgers with a hint of racism. Only visit if you're white or black. Asians not welcome clearly.

One of the best burgers I have ever had. The patty is cooked medium rare which kept it moist and succulent. There was only two of us so we didn’t have long to wait for a table. Great choice of local beer too!

Don't be put off by the foreboding trek down a dark alleyway under a train platform. The burgers here are fantastic! Large, succulent, perfectly grilled patties are the star of the show. The Pineapple Express was delicious but I would have swapped the hot peppers for a slice of fresh pineapple. Hubby enjoyed the Cheesy-E: a gourmet version of the classic MacDonald's cheeseburger, pickles and all. We loved the ODB fries, which were really crisp, seasoned perfectly and covered in a fresh and light coleslaw. Was pleased to see a fair trade UK-made cola on offer as well. Good value, great service and well worth the weight if there's a line out the door.
