We have been using Oriental Kitchen for many years now as the food is really good , and the service is always consistent. We are based in Woodingdean which is a good 20 minute drive, but the food always arrives hot, on time and most importantly delicious. There are lots of Chinese restaurants closer to us, but we will always come back here!
AVOID THIS PLACE. Food once was ok, and good value for money too. But in recent months the food hasn't been great, very poor I order delivery and every time I get it wrong the order that passes me the desire to eat and all the love I have for Chinese food. I ask for a refund and they answer me next time because I am too busy to return and it is not worth the trip for the refund that I ask for A verry rude answer consider that I was a repeat customer Very disappointed , I just throw my money on the bin to eat badly and be treated badly if I could I didn't even put a star I put it because they don't even deserve a star ***** I would like to reply but I can’t anyway in any case is not worth it to reply at your comment the fact is that I’m really disappointed of your service and your food
By far the best vegetarian Chinese food I've ever had. Cannot recommend the spicy crispy veggie beef enough!
AVOID THIS PLACE. The food was once okay, the lunch time student deal okay and good value too. But the last few months the food hasn’t been great. In December 2021 I had bad food poisoning from either a chowmein or some rice and had eaten at the place until recently. My partner ordered some plain rice, chips and curry sauce and since eating it has had extreme food poisoning. Bad diarrhoea and vomiting, cannot keep anything down, cannot stand up and can barely speak. Trying to call the place to speak to them about it and you can’t even get through. A report has been made to the local council to investigate because Christ knows how many other people they have poisoned if both myself and my partner have had food poisoning in the space of three months. Clearly their food hygiene rating is false. Would most definitely not recommend.
They have amazing tasting food for starters. There chicken chow main is very nice also chicken satay is very nice as well to be honest all there food that they sell is very nice. Also in my opinion through these reviews people have been saying the food quality isn’t very good quality. For gods sake it’s a take away it’s meant to be quick and easy not a 5 star meal. Also take aways do take a decently long time 20 mins isn’t even that long an average curry and Chinese place takes around 1 hour. Well I think there very polite and very average quality food.
This was our first...and last visit to the Oriental Kitchen in Dyke Road Brighton. It is the worst Chinese takeaway we have tasted yet. The portions compared to other takeaways were on the small side but this didn’t bother us as we thought quality rather than quantity. Sadly this was not the case! The deep fried pancake rolls were okay but extremely greasy...and cold. The king prawns with ginger and spring onions were also cold and tasteless. The prawns clearly just came out of a package, probably bought cheaply from somewhere like Lidl and the spring onion consisted mainly of cheap white onions topped with a few dark green end of a spring onion. Heaven knows what happens to the white end of the spring onions because to date we’ve never seen one in a take away meal yet! On a plus, there was evidence of ginger slithers in the dish which tasted nice. The beef chow mein was the worst we have ever tasted. The portion was half that of other takeaways, the noodles were cooked almost to a pulp and the beef was very tough and chewy. Totally inedible. Even the dog turned his nose up at the portion offered him! The mixed Hors D’oeuvres were very disappointing. The chicken skewers were over cooked and tough, and the satay sauce appeared to get thicker and thicker by the second! Also well over cooked we’re the 4 meagre portions of spare ribs.....the little amount of meat on the generous prices of bones was as tough as old goat and inedible. We thought the crispy won ton was a joke. They appeared to consist of greasy over fried filo party with a smidgen of possible prawn mince inside. The sesame prawns on toast were actually edible but way too greasy for our liking. The sea weed was by far the best part of this particular part of the order....tasted almost as good as my own fried greens. Suffice to say, we will not be rushing to order again from this particular establishment. Sadly the quality of foods served by the majority of Chinese restaurants in the Brighton and Hove area has very much deteriorated.
My lockdown luxury.. Food always on time and piping hot. Big portions, fantastic prawns and mussels, delicious duck, and the best grease free Tom Yam soup of any Chinese takeaway in Brighton.. Keep it up folks
We have paid £27.50 and we was really looking forward to it i am so upset when we called the man he was so rude I will not be getting any from the shop again
We’ve tried a few Chinese takeaways in Brighton and this is one of our favourites! Deal portions for your money and great flavours. All of our orders delivery and collection and arrived warm and on time. Highly recommended.
Have used just about every Chinese in Hove but this one passed me by, all I can say is I saved the best till last food was hot, delicious generous portions and great delivery time. all you could want for a really enjoyable takeaway will use again and again.
