First evening in Hove and we craved some fish & chips. This place makes the most amazing ones, perfectly crispy and delicious. The staff is very friendly and works well even when it is busy. Really recommend if you want some good fish & chips!! They also have some great pies.
The best fish and chips in Brighton and Hove. An added bonus for us is they are gluten free friendly and can cook any meal as gluten free - they even fry the chips separately to avoid cross contamination. Very good crispy battered fish, brilliant gluten free battered sausages and even gluten free curry sauce that tastes like the real thing.
The fish photos posted by others on here bears no resemblance to what I was just served. Absolutely awful, grease oozing out of a soggy batter covering grey fish. £24 for 2 medium fish, one portion of chips and 2 tartare sauce sachets, for most of it to end up in the bin. Hugely disappointed to say the least.
Wolfies has always had some issues. Chips are often cold they bag them up and leave them on the side while other things cook, and I've often got home to find items missing, for instance. Nevertheless I have persisted as they serve Hake, which other local chip shops don't do. However, today was the last straw. Opened my fish to find a yellowy ooze in the paper and the fish pinky/grey, and tasted like rubber. Had to bin it and make do with a plate of cold chips. Won't be going back.
Medium Cod & chips for £12.90 you would expect quality & quantity. I got neitherChips were not fresh & medium Cod was rather small & fell apart! Not good! I will not be returning! Chip Basket Portland Road alot better & cheaper!! Parking: Not easy to find a parking place
Excellent fish & chips. Aways perfectly cooked fish where so many other places over cook it. Friendly and efficient. In my top two fish and chip take aways in the whole of Brighton & Hove. You won't be disappointed.Food: 5/5
I’ve had better fish and chips but I can’t remember when. Really good chips and portion size was spot on. Fish was cooked to perfection and the batter crispy. My wife is coeliac so had gluten free haddock she said it was amazing also. Dietary restrictions: Fantastic gluten free fish and chips
Fish had been sitting in got counter as I waited for 30 mins to get my order. Female staff was lovely & gave me a soft drink to make up for wait time but considering the wait & £25 bill for dry fish it was v disappointing. Shame because the one time we'd ordered for delivery was good. This time was not good.
2 portions of chips, one fish, one sausage. 1 portion of chips, the fish and the sausage ready after 25 minutes. Other customers served with chips! so then another 10 minutes for second portion of chips. So half food too cold and last chips too hot. The worst bit was the really sarcastic 'thank you for waiting' That was just rude. Don't go for a quick supper. Not good enough for the money.
What happened to Wolfies. Used to be great but now is terrible. Today was really hard over cooked chips, it was 3.30pm so hardly busy but clearly not fresh and had been sat for a long time. Sausages in batter used to be the best around now they are greasy and just not nice. Did they change ownership??
