Ye Olde Starre Inne is one of the most historic of the cities Pubs.

Story

It is a grade II listed building and is said to date back to 1644. It was even used during the English Civil War, with the 10th century cellar used as to tend to wounded soldiers.

The Olde Starre Inne is also said to be haunted but a cat that is said to have been bricked into the walls.

There are also talks of other ghostly goings on around the building.

This is a really nice pub with great food and fantastically cheerful staff. Greene King seem to follow a concept of keeping things simple and it really pays off here. Highly recommended.
A lot of safety precautions in place so we felt well looked after. Very friendly service and pleasant staff.
Very good looking pub. Unfortunately the seats didn't seem arranged well for social distancing. We were seated directly next to a path in the one way system. I will come again as the atmosphere was great and the staff were very good but hopefully that seat doesn't exist next time.
Beers great, would have had five but they weren't lying about it being haunted.. Plastic ghosts are great, real ones standing behind you... you can keep!
A hidden bar in the narrow streets of York. Lovely cosy place to have a brew. I would recommend the garden, as long as the weather is up for it. The food in this place is also really nice. Taking a little longer than usual because of Covid, but that's understandable.
Brilliant old pub in centre of York. Excellent real ale 7 . Good food. Great place to relax. Highly Recommended
Great pub located in the heart of York. Good food that is well priced! While the sign is visible from the street the pub itself is located down a short alleyway. Which is just far enough to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy a pint and/or some food.
