Situated close to York's glorious Minster, I found it a very pleasant bar to shelter from the rain on a quiet lunchtime. Though it is not intended as a meal provider I always find it disappointing when a pub only serves crisps etc. & a few people came in and immediately left due to no proper food. Still, seems like a good venue and live music evenings sound like they're worth a visit. My pint of Black Sheep Bitter was in good condition and the lass serving was helpful. As with most pubs these days I couldn't afford more than a pint or two due to the eye-watering cost, which isn't the pub's fault - in most cases.
Was quiet when we called in but double gin so all was well. Lovely quirky atmosphere and friendly bar person.
Very good York Brewery place with some of their beers and some others. Enjoyed some Brass Castle Misfit. A dozen or so folk musicians provided some great music later on. Very good!
The "Three Legged Mare" or "Wonky Donky" as it's known locally is one of my favourite relaxed bars in York. It has a chilled vibe and attracts a variety of people, feels inclusive and welcoming of all. The bar has down-to-earth yet imaginative decor. Because it's just out of the main hustle and bustle of the city centre, it's often less busy than other bars. That's not to say you'll find a seat every time. You might have to stand a while and keep an eye out for a table to become vacant. There are no TVs so no mobs of football fans and it's not really the type of place for hen parties or stag do's which are becoming an increasing problem York and Leeds when all you want to do is enjoy a drink in a place with a bit of lively atmosphere. It's also a comfortable place for individuals to go for a drink and get talking to others. I've seen several people grab a pint on their own and get chatting. Enjoy.
Called in on Friday evening before meeting up with family and friends A pleasant surprise, a very varied collection of draft beers on offer The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable with the different types available and so we're able to provide me with a delightful pint Will revisit when going into town again
Super cute pub with friendly staff and a great atmosphere
In York for two nights and happened upon this pub for the Wednesday quiz, was very entertaining and the host made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend and thank you to the quiz master!
Less than a minute away from the Minster, lovely little bar selling a good selection of real ale. Some interesting storyboards up explaining the name of the bar add character. Friendly bar staff. A top little place to stop off if you're in the City.
Decent cask pint, friendly service, Guinness was okay
First visit to this bar on New Year's Eve. Had a couple of beers. Great range of ales and the fruit cider was most welcomed by the wife. Selection of takeaway boxes to purchase too. Great bar.
