Cracking pub with loads off History and character on Long Street Middleton . Food is excellent and very popular and staff very good and friendly Food: 5/5
Lovely place with nice food. Good selection on the menu at very reasonable prices. Some wonderful home made dishes . Car parking with plenty of spaces and free once you place your details into the touch pad inside on the bar . Parking: Only have to insert your car plate number inside to have the permit provided free.
Historic old pub, est. 1632. Food is very good, we had BBQ Burger, homemade cheese and onion pie and the Sunday brunch. All very tasty. The saff is very friendly and helpfull, we felt welcome to the pub for our first time visit and will definetly come back.
Amazing pub with a great character and interesting history. The interior design is very impressive, with many of the olden-day elements still there, so you can really see what it used to be like. Customer service was also good, with the staff being attentive to the needs of the guests. We were very satisfied with the quality of the food as well - fresh ingredients, fair and affordable prices, and generous portions. One minor thing that could be changed is that when ordering tea, I think the water should be served in a teapot so you can decide how strong you want the tea, instead of it being brewed by the staff at the bar. Overall if you have time I would recommend visiting this pub.
Nice place to eat and drink. JW Lee's pub with a real ale offering. Only 1 real ale was available when I visited although it was January and it looks like they had their winter ale on over Christmas from the posters about. It was a little chilly when we arrived as the heating had only just been put on but it soon warmed up and in fairness we were first through the door on opening! The traditional fireplaces are in fact gas and not wood or coal which is a shame but they make a nice focal point in each room. The food menu is traditional pub food, served quickly and was very tasty and reasonably priced. Worth taking your mother out for lunch!
Visited here on Saturday evening even thought they were busy staff were efficient and friendly. We had dinner there and I had the steak pie and I have to say.this is the best steak pie I have had in a pub in many years, over 15 in fact will definatelyreturn for another pie.Food: 5/5
Forgot our food order and then gave poor eta which didn't help. Some of our food was excellent a d some was very average. Beautiful building drew us in not being local but sadly it wasn't the best. The young lady who helped had good intentions but her colleagues in the kitchen let her down.Food: 3/5
Great family pub smashing tasty food plenty of it ...usually go when going to Middleton Arena ..back again soonFood: 5/5
Lovely old pub with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Food was homely, freshly prepared and very tasty with very large portions. I am already planning my next visit to introduce it to another set of friends.Food: 5/5
The food was tasty enjoyable. The service was a bit off, didn’t understand you had to get your own menu place order at bar sat for 15 mins before realising. Table was a bit sticky not comfortable to sit at due to legs in tight space. Also specials board hidden away not visible to all. Prices on website way more in actual place for example New York chicken on website £9.95 in pub £12.50 chilli £8.95 on web in pub £12. Had to ask for everything condiments knife fork serviettes. Very casual atmosphere casual service. music low enough for conversations. Outside space looked good. Indoors was a bit cold had to put coat back on after a bit. May 2024 overall not sure I’d go back. The fact that it’s very old building is no excuse for tardiness. Could do with a refurb. The food made it tolerable, it was tasty. Parking: Have to give reg in at reception parking not very clear we parked on side road, first possibly last visit. Wheelchair accessibility: Would be quite difficult due to historical age of building and narrow corridors
