We were queing for entrance and coat for 1.5 hrs in the cold and rain. The drinks were extremely expensive. The place was dirty. Though the DJ was fine. Suddenly a big fat mental English woman attacked us. Pulled my and my daughter's hair. It took a few minutes and no any security turned up. We went to look for them but really no any real support came. Look the photos how it went. Damm this place. Awful! Not recommend
I went with a group of 9 people for a friends birthday at the back of the queue and was told to wait for 30 minuets for 'being too drunk' I was honest about how much I drunk which was little, and wasn't drunk. I stood there and waited politely, to when i asked if I was able to go in yet I was spoken to rudely with out letting me talk to the female manger refused entry. I understand there are rules that need to be followed, but being spoken to like that and picked out for no reason was be belittling and not professional and ruined a night that I had travelled up for.
Good variety of music - if you’re not into the complete club/rave vibe then there’s the disco room with older, karaoke-like songs and you can switch between rooms as much as you like. plus the drinks before the main club opens are cheap but it gets busy and takes ages to get served plus you’re pushed around and swamped by people. in the main club, drinks are expensive and many, not all, staff members seem miserable and dead inside don’t blame them. needs a bloody good clean as the carpets are sticky and nasty. the worst part is the bouncers - they act like they’re guarding Buckingham Palace and like to get aggressive with people and in their faces and act too big for their boots. the security inside the club are also pretty useless. toilets are disgusting. overall, there are better places in Southampton to go out and have a good time than Oceana.
IF you can endure the mile long queues and airport like security, you're met by mostly miserable staff and bouncers on a power trip. The decor hasn't been touched for a decade and it shows. Even in the 'VIP' booths you're treated like a second class citizen, not a customer. And good luck finding any person of authority should something go wrong, it's an absolute shambles... There are many cheaper, nicer and better places to drink in Southampton where you don't get treated like cattle!
Shame that urban room has been moved into the small and cramped VIP space, was much better when it was downstairs in Bar Quarter. Still a great place to go on a night out but if you are looking for urban music, be prepared to take in a lot of sweat and to have not so much room to dance. If you're late, also be prepared for ridiculous half an hour queues to go upstairs into the VIP space.
Staff are ridiculous especially the manager. After paying to get in , then asked to pay to put jacket in the cloakroom otherwise you get kicked out and loose your money. Most unreasonable staff ever. Avoid unless you want to pay ridiculous prices to actually get into the club. Manager is a horrible man.
Student night on Wednesday is the way to go! Drinks are actually nice and not fake mixers. Experience can vary depending on what day and what event is happening, but haven’t had an issue with staff.
Absolutely awful. I was happily waiting outside for my pals with a hot dog at the end of the night and got constantly shouted at and disrespected by staff saying ‘your friends aren’t here, you cant see them can you. Where are your friends? You don’t have any go home’. I have never had a panic attack before but they caused me to have one. Worst place ever will not be returning.
Outrageous that my friend wasn't let in to a private ticketed event that was £10 a person for supposedly being too drunk when she took a minute to find her ticket. They refused to let her in after going for some water and food and were generally obnoxious. Go somewhere fun like switch instead...
Dissapointly disorganised staff who dont know how to run events. Attended a private event in the smaller rooms where they initially told us to go outside and go round to the normal Ocean entrance to be able to enter the usual area. Then when i did so, they said i should have waited in that room so asked to pay again for entry!!! Not one of the staff members took responsibility and tried to sort it out. Me and many other guests left
