We have always received the highest standard of care from all of the GPs that we have had the pleasure of meeting. Dr Hafez was incredibly reassuring during our last appointment for our child and took his time to assess and listen to our concerns. Dr Smith and Dr Hussain have also been fantastic.
By far the best practice in the Northwest! I have moved out of Bbun and really miss the practice & the service they offer. Dr Butterworth, Dr Ali and Dr Hussain in particular have been fantastic in overviewing my father’s health. I have never had to wait for long periods for an appointment - accessible healthcare as it should be! Heartfelt thank you
Impossible to get through on the phone, after waiting for circa 2 mins of their messages telling you when you can ring up. After finally getting a ringing tone rather than the constant engaged tone, I've waited for over 55mins "you are in position number 23!!" waiting to speak to one of their receptionists, and then been cut off! They really need more investment in staff or phone lines. Alright saying you're one of the biggest practices, but if you're failing your patients when they need to contact you it's no good for anyone! It's a shame really because all of the doctors are great to talk to and offer a great service, once you get over the hurdle of the reception.
Following a referral to an NHS neurologist, I found myself on a 17 month waiting list, I rang my GP surgery in total despair. I was listened to, helped and supported by Sharon, my GP's secretary. Her professionalism, depth of knowledge, and above all, her kindness made all the difference. I can tell that Sharon just thought that she was doing her job, which assures me that this was not an isolated incident or a random act of kindness; it's who she is, and speaks volumes about the ethos at the Oakenhurst Medical Practice. My thanks for their dedication, patience, care and kindness to Dr Smith, the reception and admin staff, but especially to Sharon.
Called on Tues 27th July at noon. The receptionist was so rude and arrogant, and slammed the phone down at the end of the call. I can only suggest that the "asian lady" in question gets some much needed retraining in manners and etiquete. In general this practice has gone downhill massively over the last few years with it being difficult to see a doctor and if you manage this near impossible feat the doctors at this surgery these days do not seem as caring and efficient as before a number of older doctors have retired from this practice in the last few years. If the NHS is due to be privatised because of gross mismanagment then Oakenhurst is a prime example of why this is going to be the case.
The first online complaint I have ever made....yep it was that bad. Unfortunately there is a fundamental lack of care from the reception staff and most recently, a member of the nursing team. Customer service is the second best gift you can give a person calling a medical practice after actual treatment and there is just none to be found at this practice - not one little bit. Curt staff, lack of return phonecalls and a general tone of disdain. Do not expect to get very far unless you are willing to push through the attitude and lack of organisation. I tried to speak to someone in regards to a recent lack of treatment my partner had received and was told the only way to complain was in writing, via post. Says it all really. I have been a patient here since I was a child but will be signing up elsewhere - it is just not worth the trouble. You have been warned.
Shocking company. Give false hope to people & knock peoples confidence. Suppose to provide good care…I mean look at the reviews says it all really !
Impossible to get an appointment. In my opinion, the whole system should be privatised given they can't seem to run it with acceptable levels of service.
Oakenhurst Medical have been my GP ever since I was a baby, when I was a teenager & had to start booking my own appointments, I never had any issues, always got through via phone and was never made to feel like a waste of time for being unwell or requiring a checkup in general. Pre Covid I had already lost a lot of faith in them as the receptionists were always very rude, both in person and over the phone. Over the phone it had suddenly become impossible to book an appointment for 2 days in advance let alone the same day, was always weeks before anything was available, but on calling down to the surgery in person the same day I had tried to book an appointment, was told there was availability all week. Even that same day.... So why tell people there's nothing for weeks? Not everyone is a prescription and they're done case, some people need to see the GP to get referrals for possible cancer checks etc. Now Covid and post Covid it is almost impossible to get through on the phone. As soon as emergency appointments are over with at 8.30am you'll be waiting a few hrs for the phones to be reconnected, then you'll sit in the queue for what feels like a lifetime only to make it from being number 12 in the queue to number 2 in the queue and have them hang up on you. If you do by any luck get through, the receptionists are now not only as rude as ever but playing pretend doctors and nurses has got them fooled into acting qualified, so they give you the diagnosis before snottily asking if you'd like a doc to ring you back. Today was the first time I was told I'd be rang by someone on the out of hours hub. I didn't receive a phone call. So not only are these lot not seeing most patients in person, they can't bare to be on the phones even 5min when you get a telephone appointment, you deal with rude receptionists and then can't even get a phone call back off them. That's just like the emergency hours GP not bring there when you make an appointment to go in and see them... Disgusted doesn't cut it.
I was a bit worried about going there after reading all reviews since I haven't been there 5 years but I was connected straight away, I was late for my visit and I still was let in, didn't take long before I was with the doctor who was very professional, took time to explain what to do in my case, repeated few times how to dose my medicine - brilliant!
