Visited today 11/8/24 and had a great time. it was interesting to read about all the different machines and learn about Nottingham and I learned a thing or two too All the volunteers were amazing had a great long chat with many of them Definitely worth a visit
Absolutely fabulous museum showcasing Nottingham's lace-making industry and other precious items from the Industrial Revolution, including a working beam engine. The volunteers, mostly elderly retired engineers, are knowledgeable, passionate and proper gentlemen, in the very best sense of the word. A wonderful day out.
Hadn’t noticed this was next to Wollaton hall after visiting for many years. We went for the steaming Sunday session Musuem was amazing price is steep at £6 adult entry if you live locally you’d want to visit each time you come to the park. Fantastic Musuem
Really interesting. Great seeing all the engines running on the Sunday we came. £6 well worth it.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This museum has absolutely blown me away. A truly hidden gem of Nottingham. It gives you an accurate picture of where Nottingham is from, where it is at where the City is headed. It has got some very interesting collections and a range of Nottingham history of success. But most important of all are the volunteers who run the place. They are so warm and friendly, their knowledge of their subjects and their passion is moving. It's a shame we didn't have enough time to do more but will definitely be going back and cannot recommend it enough. The Victorian kitchen run special events where you might be able to test a Victorian dish so recommend scanning their website to see what's on before you visit.
Excellent place for learning about the lace textile heritage and industrial revolution history of steam machines, railway and victorian life in Nottingham and the UK. Kids will enjoy it and grown ups too! The museum is being updated, new exhibition distribution, new descriptive displays, new paint. Looks lively and brighter and even more educational
Surely a wonderful. A perfect weekend to visit this place. The collection of machine they have is amazing and the way they have maintained it is very appreciating. The staff is very dedicated towards their work and are very informative. All the machines kept in are rare, unique and working. If you are a motorcycle lover then surely visit this place you will be amazed my Nottinghams manufactured Motorcycle on display.
Fantastic museum about the industrialization, automation, and changes of technologies in the 1700s and 1800s. If you're in Nottingham on the last Sunday of the month go here to see the running of the steam engines. That's the only day each month that they operate them.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Hardly anything there to see. Not properly sign posted to get there. Museum is part of Wollaton House land. There was 1 working engine but didn't go anywhere as it was cordoned off but you could spend 50p for them to honk the horn, when it clearly said that you could do it.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Can't recommend this museum more. The lovely people working here will passionately tell you about each piece shown here and will show you how some of the industrial machines work. If you are lucky you might even get the chance to taste history in the Victorian kitchen and if you're even more lucky you will meet Indy - the industrial cat!
