This tank is practically the work of this place The owner is a very generous and caring person who practically has all of the pets that he sells at home. He has the ability to order just about any freshwater/saltwater animal, also anything from spiders, rabbits, to snakes and everything in between and has the BEST PRICES in Hudson county by far. He is a kind person who will even work with you in your pet needs. Places close by charge ten times the prices he does so come support this man’s local business so we can keep it running
What a pet shop should be. Feeder insects always available, the ONLY place with crickets for miles! Animals being sold always look active and healthy. Best part of all the customer service is GREAT! Sophia always greets me! : making my day great! I am always informed on how to care for any animal I’ve purchased from them and even though I call and come back with a MILLION questions they are always answered with ease. Prices are reasonable being a local pet shop I think they price their items accordingly.
Use to be a decent place, But PRICES skyrocketed, they're always CLOSED. The short chunky ladyman that use to work there, owns one a few blocks away now, & her shop is expensive to. I mis Petland Discounts.
This Pet Shop NOT JUST FISH is quietly sitting in an area that you wouldn't expect in Bayonne. You have to find parking and watch the sweeping signs but it's worth it !! NOT JUST FISH has everything you need no birds it's compact stocked and managed by Laura. It's super clean and the best part Laura really cares about what your looking for, the animals and she takes the time to talk to you, she really loves doing what she does. I really recommend this pet shop.
Needed to rehome my sons placo after he was sold to us even though we only had a 5 gal tank. He became way too big for us to keep him. Laura was so nice to allow us to bring him to the shop. She was very knowledgeable and kind. And the shop is amazing def will be where we go for all our fish needs from now on.
I live on Staten Island and this business is wonderful. Beautiful fish. Healthy and HAPPY. The pets are active. Big roaches, crickets, the worms and water plant life are healthy and robust. A gem of a business, and the owner and other customers and aura of the facility is just refreshing. My sorority has begun and the girls are beautiful, healthy and thriving together nicely, and they love the water plants recommended, their habitat is exactly what the owner suggested they would love! And btw I also purchased the flat rounded stones from here also and they love laying on them! I will keep the other things there secret. So GO NOW!
Original post Feb 2020: My favorite fish store : I’ve been coming here nearly since they opened and it is by far the best fish store in the area. Jude and Laura are knowledgeable and also fun to be around, answer all the thousands of questions I ask them and run a great store, great selection of animals of all kinds. This shop is really more than a business, it’s a passion and it shows. Bought a lovely happy snake and snake setup from here as well as a full saltwater tank setup by my boyfriend. We’re always coming in and asking questions about our fish and other pets. Just a great shop overall, makes you really love to support local small businesses. Check them out if you’re looking for fish, reptiles, rodents, tarantulas, hedgehogs you name it! EDIT Nov 2020: Still my fav pet store! I have been loyal to this place since they have opened. If they don’t have something in stock they will order it for you. It’s such a personal experience. They remember the animals you purchased and ask about them, if you come in regularly for feeders Laura will know your order too! I wouldn’t think about going anywhere else. The prices are definitely good, there is a review saying you could order feeders for less online, but I don’t see how you could do that unless you ordered in bulk and then you would have 1000 bugs sitting in your house so most would probably die off before you got the chance to even use them. Shop local people, you are supporting small business and you get all the perks of a great staff that remember and cater to you!
Wow what a great store! They have such a great variety and such a great staff! I’ve purchased multiple pets from this store and supplies. They are very knowledgeable on all animals and how to properly care and love for them! The women who helped me named Lauren was truly so helpful and a ray of sunshine! Had such a great experience, will definitely be coming back here and recommending to everyone I know! Thanks for the great service!
Wow, to have such a place located so close to Home is Wonderful. The Lady that runs the shop is so Knowledgeable and Helpful. Welcoming and Always willing to take the time to explain what is best for my animals and not just making recommendations that would benefit her Sales. That is very rare in this day and age. She has earned my business as a Loyal Customer and Word of Mouth referrals, because I'm so pleased with the service provided and hope others will be as well.
NOT JUST FISH is a delight. The tropical scenery has a great chemistry. When you walk your greeted by Laura and the stores mini watch dog. So happy this place exists. Yes parking is a slight issue. My method is I circle the street or park opposite the store on the Blvd side. If you are in and out there shouldn’t be much of a big deal.
