AVOID NORTHAMPTON GENERAL HOSPITAL !!!nAbsolutely appalling experience – A&E General Hospital failed us completely.nI brought my 6-year-old son to A&E on urgent referral from our GP with suspected appendicitis. What followed was one of the worst experiences not including labour ward when I have been left for 22h until I needed emergency cc to save my childnnWe were left waiting over 8 hours without ever seeing a doctor. Throughout the night, the nurses repeatedly told us the doctor was “on the way” – a complete lie. Not once did a doctor check on my son, despite his clear pain and distress.nnA nurse briefly assessed him, asked a few general questions, and unnecessarily inserted a cannula in his arm. This caused him so much fear and discomfort that he began vomiting – not from his condition, but from sheer stress and trauma. After that, we were left completely unattended. No further updates, no treatment plan, no care.nnWhile my son suffered, I watched nurses and doctors walking around, chatting and laughing, as if they were at a social gathering – disgraceful conduct in an emergency department where patients are in pain and in need of urgent care.nnIn the end, we had no choice but to discharge him ourselves and seek private care, because the NHS completely failed us that night. My son deserved better. All children do.nnThis level of negligence and dishonesty is unacceptable and deeply disappointing. A&E at this hospital needs serious accountability and reform.
I want to thank the nurses and porters for caring for my wife on Monday, you are doing an amazing job. There was a long wait as it was very busy and some computer challenges. I witnessed a lot of kindness, calmness and professionalism. Thank you all.
I had a great experience. Went with a dislocated shoulder. I saw three practitioner nurses, a surgeon, and had two X-rays. I only had to wait less than five minutes to see the first nurse. All the staff were very friendly, professional, and sympathetic. I was sent home all fixed up within 2 hours and an appointment to come back a week later for a follow up. I couldn’t ask for anything more. Thank you.
Another trip to A&E, food poisoning due to a takeaway. It was rammed, staff were stretched to their maximum, but were superb. Just goes to show, stick to the rules & don’t just turn up. It was very long day.
Went to A&E department after a fall, think I've damaged my knees. Got there at 1100, was seen very quickly & X Ray was done promptly, lovely staff, very clean & efficient 10/10. Back home by 1230! Can't ask for better. Just bad soft tissue damage.
