My Mum has just completed the last 2 5 weeks of her life at Apollo House having been transferred there directly from hospital. It was an emotionally traumatic time for the entire family. Mum was very soon encompassed into the care ethos that shines through at Apollo House. All her complex needs were catered for by the friendly and very genuinely caring staff and our whole family were welcomed and included whatever time of day or night we came to visit. Soft voices, calm, kind hands when tending to Mum and indeed to us her family have meant the world to us.nnThank you to all at Apollo House for making Mum's final days a peaceful and secure haven.nnJudith Gammage Mum's eldest daughter
Having come from working in a care background myself and having looked at the cqc rating/google reviews I was relieved to find that Apollo House was under new management, however if I am totally honest after researching, I was still dubious to say the least.nnOne day I stayed for 14 hours sitting at my grandmothers bedside and I can honestly say that the interaction with other residents was a reflection of the ethos of the home. I listened to how the staff talked calmly and reassuringly to the residents in a respectful and genuine manner, this echoed quietly down the corridors and was unbelievably reassuring.nnWe as a family were welcomed and nothing was too much. The kindness and respect they showed, I will never forget. They did not just look after my grandmother they looked after us at our most vulnerable and welcomed us with open arms quite literallynnYes like everywhere, places can always be improved, procedures and protocols updated, but I can genuinely see that this is a place that is 'person centred', genuinely cares and has already clearly made drastic improvements.nnThe one thing that money cannot buy is the true, genuine, empathetic nature that the staff that cared for my grandmother had, and that I will be forever greatful for.nnThank you.
I will start this review by saying that when my grand mother was put into Apollo house the first thing l did was google reviews and check the CQC ratings and I’ll be honest I had some reservations. Once in and settled we had a couple of teething problems which we brought to the attention of the staff and management and they started putting new protocol’s into action immediately which straight away made a difference and we were told if we had any more concerns we were to inform the staff and they would work to remedy the problem until we were satisfied the problem was rectified. Now on to the care staff, care being the operative word they have all been nothing short of incredible. All of my grandmas care needs were met with a smile and warm heart and further than that when we made visit’s especially under difficult and emotional circumstances they looked after all of us, with tea and food etc. and going above and beyond offering support and a shoulder to cry on for the whole family. So in short anybody looking for a place for a beloved family member to be cared for should rest easy when choosing apollo house as I have no doubts they will be cared for and looked after by the fantastic staff whom I can’t thank enough
My dad has been in Apollo house for a year and a half now and my family and I can't get over how well he is looked after. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough for us when we come to visit. I live in Italy and when I leave I just know he is in the best place. Thank you for everything you do for my dad and all the residents. Amy
