Formby National Trust woods is a really wonderful and special place. It has plenty of car parking space and lots of disabled parking too. You have access to the beach from the bottom car park. The nearest car park is for disabled drivers and gives you instant access to the woods. The Red Squirrels thrive in this woods with every possibility of seeing quite a number on a single visit. This area is one of only a few where the Red Squirrels can be seen all year round. They are very tame and will come close if you remain still. There are toilets just as you enter the site. Dogs must always be kept on a lead. This is a great place for all the family and a fabulous place to have a picnic and watch the Reds.

Location of car park is stunning, nestled in the woods and sandhills of Formby, however the £4.50 parking price from Easter to late Autumn is bewildering as there are no toilets and no security.

From October 2017 the car park and surrounding land came under the management of the National Trust (prior to that it was managed by Sefton Council). The car park is FREE to use although that may change in the early part of 2018. The notice board at the car park is often used as the meeting place for recreational / sport / fitness groups such as members of Formby Sea Swimmers. CONTACT: Formby Sea Swimmers are organised through a closed Facebook group. New members should send a 'request to join'.

Is it a great location with a large car park but it can be expensive. I've been a couple of times on a Sunday and its been free.
