Lovely little local pub. We went in to watch the Grand National as they were showing it on their TVs. Very welcoming and attentive bar staff. Reasonably priced drinks. It's a lovely little find down a side street, you're made to feel like one of the locals.
Been a while since Flat visired this homage to Manchester pub. esp UNITED. walls covered in photos of days gone by. Georgie Best in particular. Chose a good pint of Taylor's Landlord over Black Sheep, Dizzy Blond and Doom Bar. Pub has good roof terrace for better months than Jan. Used to love walking into the Rising Sun from Lincoln Squsre..out back..into Nags Head, out back..down alley into Lord Abercrombie. Very short pub crawl! Building work cutting off back alley..!
Brilliant atmosphere, vibrancy and good feeling. A real Manchester themed pub from the decor to the music to the friendliness.
The Old Nags Head is the mother of all hidden gems in Manchester. Just of Deansgate on Jackson's Row . You can easily pass it as it is very modest from the outside but when you step in you don't want to leave because of the treasure and the history you will discover in it. I am not to go into details just look at the photos . What is make it also extremely nice and enjoyable to be there is the staff they are so nice helpful and proud of the place they work in and tell you about it. VIMTO
Lovely pub with a bar as you walk in which is always nice. Pictures all around the pub, even on the ceiling, showcasing notable people from Manchester. The night I was there they had a mix of Fleetwood Mac, Petula Clark, Stereophonics type of vibe playing. This is a good place to stop off at if you fancy a couple of drinks. The pub has a local feel to it. Quirky sayings and messages on blackboards around the place. It was busy enough when I was here. You may have to wait for a table when you arrive but we didn't wait very long.
Enjoyed cheering for liverpool at this cozy pub. Well stocked bar and friendly people. YNWA
Cool pub! Proper old school dj on on the top floor, nicely decorated with old black and white photos and flowers, drinks were good value too! Proper old school boozer vibes
Best pub in Manchester: great staff, selection of pints and drinks, and so much great Manchester United memorabilia. The upstairs is really cool and has a dance floor and balcony. Downstairs has lots of tables and space to mingle. I enjoyed Old Nags Head so much i went just about every day I was in Manchester
A real old-time boozer. No food, no jukebox or music, no fruit machines; just comfortable seats and very good real ale. I especially liked the sign: "We do not have WiFi- just pretend it's 1987 and talk to each other".
Nags is a classic and a must before a match. The beer is cheap and there is loads of space. We paid about £15 for that round.
