**Closed for Season** Museum of Lead Mining, Wanlockhead Village is unique, being the only museum dedicated to lead mining in Scotland.
We do guided tours of our Lead mine, 3 period Cottages, in the Visitor Centre you can visit the Museum, Tearoom and Shop and we also have the Miners Library which is the 2nd oldest subscription library in Europe.

A fantastic place to visit but make sure you have enough time as there's a museum, a drift mine, period cottages, and a fascinating library to pack in! Great coffee shop / cafe for lunch and / or snacks, gift shop with the usual tourist stuff and some stunning but reasonably priced artworks, jewelry, and other pieces. Highly recommended.

Great place for the whole family - loads to see and do (even on a wet snowy day like today!). Note: under 5s can't go down the mine and the railway is only open at weekends so that was the only disappointment. We'll visit again in better weather.

Really enjoyed my visit to the cafe, good staff ,good food (baked potato), sat outside in the sun for a while. Back on the m/bike. Good break.
