I live 18 miles from Malton near york and enjoy a drive through the back roads of the Edwardian hills to Malton Morrison's. I started going there after Asda York went self service. To my horror I arrived today at Malton to see only five tills that can be manned, plus one till covered in stock. There is now a line of endless self service tills, not for me. I may pop in nearer Christmas to see how things shape. The week before Christmas is busy what ever time of day. Customers with piled up trolleys are always queuing as many as eight deep down each aisle with more tills open. I won't be queuing. I won't be there.
Had two cream teas about 1.30 ish today.nThe sandwich was very dry, the scones were dry and hard, we asked for and got two more scones from the counter and they were just as hard and dry.nAppalling experience not to be repeated.
Store very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Prices great.
Visited the Malton store 14/5/24 and enjoyed an early lunch - fish,chips + mushy peas. We were served by Victoria and Sarah in the cafe. Both of them went beyond their normal job criteria. Thanks for 1st class service. From a visitor to Nth Yorkshire.
Tried the cafe here, two meals and coffee. Food was better here than most other well known chains, prompt helpfully service and large very tasty portions.
