Good, pretty typical small European hotel experience. Older building but good price for the location. 24 hour front desk was very nice and helpful. Rooms were a little dated but had everything we needed. We would probably stay here again.Rooms: 4/5
The hotel is really well situated, and they had everything we needed. It was easy to check in. They have a 24-hour reception, good breakfast, and clean sheets. What's to complain about?... Sure, the water pressure could be better in the shower, and it's a wee bit scruffy round the edges, but it's otherwise clean, safe, and very accommodating.
The room was very warm and you couldn't open the windows to let in air and there is NO LIFT so if you have a bad back this is not the hotel to stay in you have to pull you suitcase behind you go up 3 floors. I ask to cleaner 3 time to put toilet roll in our room which they didn't. The only good thing about this hotel is the staff are amazing and the breakfast is delicious. But other then that this hotel needs to improve on getting a lift and getting the floors done and rooms up to date. Floor are squeaky and uneven you can hear every foot step when people walk pass your room. Not acceptable.
Was not expecting much with this place but I was really pleasantly surprised. We chose it for the location for Manchester Arena. The room was older looking with wonky floors but it was clean and well equipped. We stayed in a room for 3 which was small but enough for us for 1 night. The bathroom was small but functional. Towels and bedding were clean. Staff was really pleasant, welcoming and helpful on arrival and at breakfast. We enjoyed some drinks in the bar downstairs before and after we went out which were a little overpriced but enjoyable. The cooked breakfast was included, was self service and was good quality and choice. No we have found you we will definitely stay again next time we are in Manchester!
Love it until I tried to get it in at 0:30 hours nobody there. Some man tried to get me outside to go around. But you could tell he wasn't staying there. I would have said safe until this point. 24hr reception really. I'm going to complain big time
We stayed in the hotel on Thursday night after we wondered around Manchester a bit it was a really quick and easy 2 minute walk from the Arndale the gentleman that checked us in I didn’t catch his name he was amazing he let us keep our bags in reception till it was time to check in. The room itself was great the building has so much character and for the price of the rooms you really couldn’t ask for better. The breakfast was excellent could not have been better. The view of the cathedral was amazing aswell
The good: a nice large room that was reasonably clean. And, yes, very centrally located… albeit also noisy for the same reason. The bad: to get hot water in the shower required turning on and running water in the sink until warm about 5m and only then running the shower. Staff ranging from amazingly helpful…. like showing you how to encourage hot water to your room….to one fellow who seemed totally disinterested to hearing the answers to his own questions. And lastly, i never did quite get to the bottom of why this pub lost its licence to serve alcohol but couldn’t get it back without some serious cleaning….. !!?
The Mitre hotel is an old but quite pleasant looking hotel from the outside. Inside up towards the rooms have wonky and never steps but ok for people who don't have hip or back issues like myself. Was upgraded to a room with a bath with which I was grateful for as was much needed with 4 days walking around Manchester and Liverpool. The buffet brekkie was lovely but need to get down early as we came down at 9.30am on Thursday and there was only 2 pieces of bacon left and very little of anything else. Staff were all lovely and welcoming and was on hand for anything we needed. We were in a room with the cathedral view and was amazing to hear the bells on one evening. House keeping needs to pay more attention to detail as still some hairs left in the bath, rubbish under the beds and towels unclean but overall had a good stay here Nearby activities: Great for shops nearby, close to Victoria Station, within a few minutes actually. Easy to locate an uber when needed Walkability: Very close to all amenities, within walking distance of Arndale shopping centre, escape hunt and lots of others
Great breakfast, horribly warm rooms. Smoke alarm light constantly blinking. The room next to the door says there "may" be some noise, but the reality is constant racket until the early hours of the morning, avoid this room. Had to do some bodily Jenga just to get to the toilet, tiny bathrooms.
Basic, but a bit tired rooms but in a great location. Breakfast is very good if you like a fry up - nice sausages and bacon. Great hash browns but no black pudding, but it’s still great! Rooms: 3/5
