I booked this hotel at the last minute, as l wanted to visit family in the area. Very accessible car park. I had a warm welcome, in fact the staff have been amazing. The hotel was very quiet with very few guests, sadly there was no access to having breakfast. My room was massive, clean, comfortable with vintage furniture. Generally l had a Fabulous stay, though for the first time I have been struggling with trying to justify the price l paid for two nights. I find it hard as l don't normally worry about the cost. I suppose it seemed so deserted, a few other guests, the kitchen is having work done, so it has been closed. A good bar is available, lots of space. My five stars are for the staff, always attentive, welcoming on first name bases, and really happy to deal with any inquiry and help to make the atmosphere. With a smile.
Excellent hotel in the middle of town yet surprisingly quiet. Clean, tidy and perhaps needing a little freshen to paintwork. Staff were outstandingly polite and helpful. Lady who checked us in was great also showing us to our room, serving drink at the bar and taking the food order. Next morning we were served a great full English and vegetarian breakfasts but a charming and delightful lady. Thank you for a good stay and would use again when next in Newark
Hotel room to hot and lamp shades were very dusty with bits on the floor which hadn't been hoovered prior to our visit. Shower also was under powered. Didn't have breakfast as it was to early for me 7-9am. Close to town centre and adequate car parking. Staff were friendly and chatty.
This was a hotel that was a "surprise"..whilst a little short of modernisation the ambience of the place felt comfortable and homely. The room we had 335 was very spacious , a lovely bathroom, although shower lacked a little power. The bedroom was very clean, the bed, with white sheets, was ideal after a long journey. The downside was what windows we had, by design, none of them opened thus we had to rely on a electric fan for ventalation The breakfast was superb and staff very friendly. Overall this hotel delivered a quality stayover and would go back without hesitation.
Rooms nice and big and hotel seemed nice but arrived on a Sunday lunchtime and it was akin to the Marie Celeste! Only receptionist on hand. No bar, and worse no food as chef's day off. Not even a toastie available. Most disappointing considering we'd driven down from Scotland.
A lovely hotel, lots of character, with really nice rooms, and great food in the in-house restaurant. A couple of minor things let it down, which collectively made it feel more like a B&B than a quality hotel. We had half our towels in our room and half left on seats outside in the hallway which we didn't realise were ours, and unfortunately had to flush some resedue of someone else's toilet trip upon entering the bathroom. The restaurant was great, with a chef that came to the table and told us about a special and how everything is made from scratch so can be prepared to meet your individual tastes. As the restaurant was pretty much empty, the waiting staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, although we're totally bamboozled when trying to split our bill over two cards, and said that due to the price of the burgers being less on the till than on the specials board we would get a discount results. This was great until the next morning when the manager informed my mother in-law that he had withdrawn the discrepancy for the two burgers from the card stored for her room payment without her confirmation. Although it was a tiny amount it was unprofessional to retrieve money discounted by your saff, in such a manor and without express consent. All in all, I would recommend staying but, but feel it could be so much more if they addressed a couple of minor issues.
Nice and warm No food available.Rooms: 5/5
I am from Canada and my papa and dad bookie us here for a week or so before we went off to London , and to be honest at first we wanted to go home because of the record breaking heat, but then the hotel staff were kind and got to know our names and it was a overall amazing stay there. The food was absolutely amazing and actually the whole place was. I deffenitally recommend this place is your looking for a nice getaway . You can also walk to many different places near by for restaurants or entertainment . Brilliant place and I want to go back.
Really nice location but our room was let down by the considerable need for an update in the old building, I know the newer building rooms were much better. Breakfast was good and the evening menu looked great but the best thing here was it's location.
Fantastic service and really great nights sleep. Came in after running at Airfield last night and all I wanted was a bowl of pasta. Chef was amazing and cooked off the menu for all theee of us. Thank you!
