I've managed to view inside this remarkable hall on several occasions and each time it has been a total thrill. It dates from the 1500's, although there has been restoration, and it has one of the finest, if not the finest, double hammer-beam oak roofs in the county. It was inside here that Shakespeare's Twelfth Night received its first performance in 1602 and it has some magnificent coats of arms, not to mention portraits of various Monarchs who have been associated with Middle Temple over the centuries. It is a true time capsule and, as it is rarely open to the general public, if you ever get the opportunity to visit - take it.

The gardens are open to the public during the Summer from mid morning until mid afternoon. Well worth a trip to sit and have your lunch here in the beautiful gardens when the weather is good. Another great place to escape the city hustle during your lunch break or if you are a tourist nearby wanting a pit stop before continuing tours of the many famous landmarks nearby.
