Got a strike 7 keyboard from them, went to customer counter to buy after 4 months went faulty, took it back and was dismayed when thy wouldn't swap it for a new one they said they had to send it back to the suppliers for repair or replacement, and could take about a fortnight was a bit peed off at no swap but explained to me that being a smaller company could not just exchange for new like the big national companies without being tested. After two weeks remembered that I forgot to leave my contact details so fired them an e-mail asking for an update I got a reply within 24hrs although it not being resolved with the manufacturers they would keep me informed a week later I received an e mail and a phone call to say I could pick it up from store. To my delight there was a brand new strike 7 boxed and sealed waiting ,I had wound myself up reading bad reviews of micro-direct on the web but am pleasantly proved wrong the long and short of it is I had a problem with my keyboard which was out of their control they did exactly what they said they would do, all my emails to customer support where answered promptly and my goods were replaced as they promised ,not only did I get Excellent service but they even offered to lend me a keyboard whilst mine was at suppliers. companies like this deserve my support and will always use them again
Bought a product which turns out to be incompatible with Win 7, contradictory to the description. Called ahead to arrange a refund, customer services refused to forward the call to the shop floor. Was informed store credit was only available. I requested a call back from the shop floor manager, but was given the impression this was unlikely, but the request was apparently made. No call was ever received. The most unhelpful staff I have had the misfortune of dealing with in years, don't seem to give a toss once you have handed over your money. Don't expect any help unless your buying something.
Bought a 3Gb harddrive tried install the capacity due to BIOS not accepting more than 2Gb therefore took it back to REPLACE not a REFUND for a 2Gb in order for my system to recognise the full capacity of the drive was told because I had opened it they couldn't now use it bollocks further more took it back as an exchange but with a 20% handling fee to replace it because the package was opened. They could have used it and resold it was less than 24hrs later also it hadn't been used at all the package was there and intact. Furthermore if the package was a concern as NOT to resell it they could have used on a computer build. They had the audacity to smirk when saying we can't take it back if we do there is a 20% handling charge absolutely despicable and disgusting. They didn't give a toss but was only to pleased and helpful before taking my money after they couldn't give a toss only to pleased to take a further 20% for handling, perhaps I/ we should charge them 20% for handling when I/We take from their premises.
Terrible service, great at rushing your credit card through but once they have your money thats its. tried to return a suspect faulty CPU costing over £200 and was faced with a barrage of excuses about why they couldnt open another one to test my processor. told if it was deemed not faulty i would be charged for them taking 2minutes testing it. told all the excuses about it not being compatible with my motherboard and ram when the motherboard website clearly states this as untrue. told i needed to update my bios but when i asked how do I do this when the computer wont boot I got no helpful answer. been back 3 times, still no working computer very unhappy customer.
Great shop and customer service. Bought a gaming mouse for a friend. They were very kind and helpful with the choice. There haven't been any problems with the product for several months now.
When I was going to buy a laptop I've searched online and explored the differences between the brands. That's one time purchase and I didn't want to fritter away my opportunity. The seller in that store helped me to make my decision. Thanks again!
They have a fantastic web site with accurate stock levels so you won't waste your time traveling to this place unlike other similar shops in Manchester Probably only really suitable for those of you who know what they need and have an understanding about the insides of a 'puter or know exactly what they require media wise. The place is like Argos only faster and with better stuff. You select what you need, pay for it, go to collections invariably the product gets there before you do ! and then go home to install your new geeky component etc. Probably best avoided if you don't know an AGP slot from a PCI slot or what RAM is. There is also limited free parking too.
Ive bought loads of stuff through these people and have always found them great to deal with. Not quite sure about the authenticity of some of these people leaving 1 star comment ! I recommend them.
I have been using micro-direct for years without any problems really helpful chaps at the desk cant rate them enough.
Bought a motherboard a week ago that is faulty, took it back yesterday only to find out they have shut down due to unforeseen circumstances. Piss take
